Chiefs To Continue With Brady Quinn As Starter

Sep 30, 2014 7:01 PM

Brady Quinn will start Week 8 for the Kansas City Chiefs when they play the Raiders.

"My biggest deal was my gut telling me that I needed to impact the team by changing the dynamic," Romeo Crennel said.

"I am not saying Matt Cassel is the reason we are where we are," Crennel said, "because the stroke of that brush is a broad stroke."

Texans, Falcons, Bengals, Chargers Lead In 1st Half Differential

Jul 14, 2014 4:09 PM

An often overlooked aspect of football is to establish an early lead. Rather than worrying about establishing the pass or the run, simply getting an early lead allows the specific elements of the game to fall into place.

The Texans, Falcons, Bengals and Chargers lead in first half point differential.

The bottom-five are the Chiefs, Jaguars, Lions, Titans and Panthers.

Chiefs May Soon Give Opportunity To Brady Quinn

Oct 31, 2014 10:37 AM

Matt Cassel will start at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5 against the Ravens, but Romeo Crennel also said that Brady Quinn may receive some starter's work at practice.

“At some point, as a coach, you go through and you see what’s happening in the game and how a guy is reacting and how he’s responding to what’s happening in the game,” Crennel said. “If you feel he’s inept, constantly making poor decisions, bad choices, then that’s when you move on from him and give someone else a chance.”

Cassel has committed 10 turnovers in the Chiefs’ four games.

Quinn was a No. 1 draft pick of the Browns in 2007, when Crennel was Cleveland’s head coach.

Chiefs Losing Confidence In Matt Cassel As Starting QB

Dec 6, 2014 7:34 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs are 1-3 and the organization is losing confidence in Matt Cassel.

Cassel has five touchdown passes and three interceptions this season despite playing fairly average or below average defenses over the first four games.

"Look, there's a big reason why they went after Peyton Manning as hard as they did this offseason," said a source with knowledge of Chiefs president Scott Pioli's thinking. "What you're seeing from Cassel is pretty much what was expected. He's a really nice backup, not a starter."
