Martin Will Play On Sunday

Oct 18, 2014 10:11 PM

Curtis Martin will be in uniform and on the field for the New York Jets on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Just a day after the MRI on his right knee came up negative, running back Curtis Martin announced he would be back in action. "My main thought is all pain is temporary," Martin said. "It can't last forever. You can get through it for three hours in a game and then you can suffer and cry and everything afterward. That's the attitude I try to take. I often try to focus so hard on something else that it takes my attention away from the pain."

Earlier, Jaguars safety Donovin Darius left in the second quarter with a sprained left knee. Cortez Hankton Undergoes Surgery On Ankle

Oct 18, 2014 10:12 PM

Receiver Cortez Hankton had surgery on his right ankle Friday and will miss several weeks. Hankton, who has 26 catches for 247 yards in two seasons with the Jags, was slowed by what the team called a high ankle sprain during the preseason. He had been listed as questionable for Sunday's opener against Seattle. "Doctors determined [surgery] was necessary, that rest was not going to make it better," coach Jack Del Rio said. "It's a simple procedure to allow him to get back in a few weeks without the continuing pain."
