Carson Wentz Has Sprains To Both Ankles

Sep 21, 2021 9:35 AM

Carson Wentz's status for Week 3's game between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans is up in the air because of two sprained ankles suffered against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Wentz's more severe sprain occurred on his right ankle when he tried to scramble and was taken to the ground by Aaron Donald with less than eight minutes left in the game.

Frank Reich said he still had to meet with the team medical staff to get a better indication about Wentz's ankles.

"I know Carson has a high threshold for pain," Reich said. "When you have guy who is a pocket passer, it affects his game less than a guy who is a mobile quarterback. That's not rocket science. My history with Carson is that he's a pretty fast healer and he's tough. If there's any chance he can play with these ankle sprains, he'll play. It's an incredibly big game."

Wentz is 45-of-69 for 498 yards with three touchdowns and an interception through the first two games of the season.

Carson Wentz Rolls Right Ankle In Loss To Rams

Sep 20, 2021 9:41 AM

Carson Wentz will undergo further evaluation on his right ankle after injuring it in the Indianapolis Colts' loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Wentz suffered the injury when he tried to scramble and was taken to the ground by Aaron Donald on third down with less than eight minutes left in the game.

"He rolled it up pretty bad," Frank Reich said. "I had a sense when he walked off the field. It didn't look good. Sometimes if you go back in right away when it's still warm you can maybe gut out a few more plays. The longer we were off the field, it stiffened up and he tried, but there was no chance."

The Colts will face the Tennessee Titans in Week 3.

Colts Will Be Featured On First In-Season 'Hard Knocks'

Sep 20, 2021 9:49 AM

The Indianapolis Colts will make their debut on the HBO series "Hard Knocks" during the regular season.

It will mark the first time that the "Hard Knocks" franchise will follow a team during the season.

NFL Films did four years of the "All or Nothing'' series for Amazon Prime Video, where it followed a team for the entire season, but those episodes were not available until the following summer.

The first episode of "Hard Knocks" featuring the Colts will air Nov. 17, with each episode airing the following Wednesday.
