Michael Pittman, Jr. Won't Give Up No. 11 For Carson Wentz

Feb 23, 2021 8:54 AM

Carson Wentz won't be wearing No. 11 with the Indianapolis Colts.

Michael Pittman, Jr., who currently wears the number, says he has talked to Wentz about the number, and the answer is no on a possible switch.

"I am number 11," Pittman told TMZ Sports. "... I don't think there's any deal that is gonna be done."

Wentz wore No. 11 while at North Dakota State University and during his first five years with the Eagles.

"Yeah, so I spoke to [Carson] and he was just seeing how locked in I was to No. 11, and I told him I was locked in -- and he was like, 'That's cool, bro, because I'm probably gonna switch anyway,'" Pittman told TMZ Sports. "... He asked me very respectfully, and I just appreciated him for that. I think he's a great dude, because lots of guys with his status, they would come in and demand and stuff like that."

Darius Leonard Wants Colts' Next QB To 'Put The Team First'

Feb 16, 2021 8:32 AM

Darius Leonard was surprised by Philip Rivers' retirement.

However, the linebacker explained that he understood the quarterback's decision.

"It was definitely a complete shock," Leonard said. "You know, just talking to him a couple of days before he announced, he still didn't know what he was gonna do. Me personally, I do believe that he has some left in the tank. He played very well this year for us and I thought he was going to come back the next year and do the same exact thing and play even better."

Leonard doesn't think the Colts need a superstar at quarterback next season, just someone with a team-first approach.

"I honestly don't care who's the quarterback, as long as the quarterback comes in with the right mentality and they're gonna help us win ballgames," Leonard said. "I don't care if he's young, I don't care if he's old, I don't care if he's well-known or not. If you're going to come in and put the team first and help us win ballgames, come on down to the Indianapolis Colts."

If a trade partner can't be found, the Eagles could release Ertz outright.
