Colts Likely To Go After Big Name Coach If Change Made

Sep 23, 2015 11:19 AM

Jim Irsay fears getting just one Super Bowl win with a generational quarterback as the Indianapolis Colts did with Peyton Manning. Irsay is determined not to repeat that path with Andrew Luck.

"But what seems increasingly undeniable is that Irsay -- scarred by past experiences -- will go looking to make changes if this season ends in the same way the last three did, with his team struggling to stand up physically to an elite opponent," wrote Albert Breer. "(He'd point out the team is 16-2 within the division and 17-13 out of the division over the past three seasons.) And word around the campfire is that if Irsay does make a coaching change, he might be ready to go big-game hunting, which could change the structure of the organization."

Bill Polian: Colts Had First Round Grade On Tom Brady

Sep 20, 2015 12:18 PM

Bill Polian claims he was very high on Tom Brady when the Indianapolis Colts already had Peyton Manning.

Polian was asked which quarterbacks the Colts may have drafted if they didn't already have Manning.

"Well, (Ben) Roethlisberger later on (in 2004) -- we were really high on him. Aaron Rodgers the year after," Polian said. "That's the only name that comes to mind right away. And I don't think there was a guy in between, but Tom Brady would have been a guy, and we were very high on him. Our guys really loved him, but we weren't in the quarterback market, obviously. Those would be the guys I remember us giving solid, first-round, can-lead-you-to-a-championship grades."

Brady was drafted 199th overall in 2000 by the New England Patriots.

Irsay Denies Existence Of Rift Between Pagano, Grigson

Sep 13, 2015 11:20 PM

Jim Irsay has denied the existence of a rift between Ryan Grigson and Chuck Pagano.

The Indianapolis Colts lost their Week 1 game at the Buffalo Bills.

"That can't be farther [from] the truth," Irsay said. "Ryan and Chuck work hard together. They have a great relationship. I've seen coaches and general managers work together since I was 11 years old. I know the dynamic that needs to be there for them to work together. They have a great relationship."

What caused Irsay to seek out the media after the game was a report by CBSSports.com on Sunday that said Pagano has no say in personnel decisions and he was not able to put together his own staff.

"That report is completely false," Irsay said. "I can guarantee you that -- completely false. There is not one shred to truth to it at all. Honestly, these guys have a great relationship."
