Nick Saban Unlikely To Leave Alabama For NFL Job

Nov 23, 2015 4:21 PM

Nick Saban is not expected to be tempted to leave Alabama for the NFL.

Saban had a brief stint in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, leaving LSU in the process.

Stanford's David Shaw, UCLA's Jim Mora and Auburn's Gus Malzahn are also college coaches expected to receive NFL interest.

The Indianapolis Colts are among the teams that have been linked to a pursuit of Saban.

Colts Interested In Hiring Nick Saban

Nov 12, 2015 7:13 PM

Jim Irsay may be preparing to fire Chuck Pagano as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts with the hope of hiring Nick Saban away from Alabama.

“Jim Irsay does not believe that Chuck Pagano is the guy who can take him to where he wants to go,” longtime Indianapolis columnist Bob Kravitz said. “He’s talking about not just one Super Bowl, but multiple Super Bowls in the Andrew Luck era.”

Irsay is also prepared to fire Ryan Grigson to give Saban ultimate authority.

“Jim Irsay is going to make the next coaching hire,” Kravitz said. “If he brings in a guy who demands full power, like, say, a Nick Saban, who I think he’s going to go after, if he brings in a Nick Saban, he’s going to have full power and that means that Ryan Grigson will either be kicked to the curb or he’ll have a different role in the organization.”

Kravitz said Grigson getting fired is “a 50-50 proposition” and will depend mostly on the type of coach Irsay can hire.

Andrew Luck Out Several Weeks With Lacerated Kidney

Nov 11, 2015 11:46 AM

Andrew Luck will miss two to six weeks with a lacerated kidney and abdominal injuries.

Luck suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the Indianapolis Colts' win over the Denver Broncos.

“The injuries happened at the end of an early fourth quarter scramble when Andrew was doing everything he could to get us the win,” said Chuck Pagano. “Andrew was sore after the game and was feeling a little worse Monday afternoon so we sent him to get tests.”

Luck will not require surgery.

Andrew Luck Believes He's To Blame For Dismissal Of Pep Hamilton

Nov 7, 2015 7:50 PM

Andrew Luck believes he is partially to blame for the firing of Pep Hamilton, who was offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts.

"Part of me does, yeah," Luck said when asked.

Luck was pressed on whether he specifically got Hamilton fired.

"Yeah," he said. "Can't dwell on it. Have to move on. But ... but, yeah."

Luck has completed just 54.9 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

"I don't think the turnovers have anything to do with who the coordinator was," he said. "Turnovers fall on my shoulders and my shoulders only."

Andrew Luck Takes Blame For Turnovers, Won't Discuss Rib Injury

Nov 3, 2015 11:56 AM

Andrew Luck led the Indianapolis Colts to overtime against the undefeated Carolina Panthers on Monday night after playing poorly through the first three-plus quarters, but an interception set up Carolina's game-winning field goal.

He threw three interceptions in the game, bringing his total to 12 for the season. Luck threw just 16 picks all of last season and had just nine in 2013.

"It's my problem and it's hurting the team," Luck told the Indianapolis Star. "And I've got to fix it or else it's tough to win doing it. Disappointed in myself. ... It's hard to find perspective right now. We lost. At the end of the day, that's what matters. We did some decent things to give ourselves a chance, but messed it up at the end by throwing an interception."

When asked about a report that he has been playing with broken ribs, Luck said he wasn't "going to get into that right now."
