The Texans have agreed to a six-year, $48 million contract with Pro Bowl linebacker DeMeco Ryans, according to sources.
The pact makes Ryans one of the highest-paid linebackers in the game and locks him up through the 2015 season.
The deal includes $21.75 million guaranteed and $26.3 million in the first three years of the contract, according to sources.

Agent: Leigh Bodden To Visit Texans
Free-agent cornerback Leigh Bodden is scheduled to travel to Houston for a free-agent visit with the Texans, according to his agent, Alvin Keels.
Keels has spoken with the Texans, Seahawks and Steelers regarding Bodden in the first few days of free agency.
The Patriots are interested in re-signing Bodden as well.

Thomas Jones will be looking for a home after another productive season with the Jets and will have no shortage of suitors.
"Best I can tell, there are four potential landing spots for former Jets RB Thomas Jones: Cleveland, Seattle, San Diego and Houston," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on his Twitter page.
Texans Want Kevin Walter Back
The Texans are interested in re-signing free-agent wide receiver Kevin Walter.
"Free agency starts Friday. I can't wait to see where Dunta ends up and if Kevin Walter re-signs with the Texans. They want him back," John McClain of the Houston Chronicle wrote on his Twitter page.
Walter had 53 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns in 2009.
