Stover Wants To Kick Again In The NFL

Nov 15, 2014 6:32 AM

Former Ravens kicker Matt Stover wants to kick again in the NFL. Stover is comfortable with ending his career, but is also prepared to continue playing if he receives a call this summer. The Ravens have declined to re-sign Stover thus far, and have two young kickers in rookie Graham Gano and second-year player Steve Hauschka. Stover has remained in touch with coach John Harbaugh. "There has always been great communication between John and me, and I was a great communicator between John and the players," Stover said. "When he wanted to know how the players felt about practices and so forth, I would tell him and say, 'Here is what they're saying; do with it what you want.' It worked, because we were all on the same page in what turned out to be a great season last year. "It was a personal phone call, and he wanted to know how I was doing and if I was still kicking and if I was staying in shape," Stover said.

Ravens Give Drew A Three-Year Deal

Nov 15, 2014 6:32 AM

The Ravens have signed rookie tight end Davon Drew to a three-year deal worth $1.324 million. Drew is the first of Baltimore's draft picks to agree to terms, receiving a $139,250 signing bonus. He was a fifth-round pick out of Eastern Carolina. "When you get it done early, you have more time to focus on football and that's what I was trying to do by just getting it out of the way," Drew told the Carroll County Times in a telephone interview. "I wasn't looking at the negotiations like they were going to be extreme. I'm a fifth-round pick. I just wanted the signing bonus to be correct. It wasn't too much of an issue. It's good to get it done."

Ravens Work Troy Smith Out As WR

Nov 15, 2014 6:31 AM

The Ravens moved quarterback Troy Smith to wide receiver during parts of the team's voluntary minicamp on Tuesday. Smith is still No. 2 on the team's depth chart at quarterback, but they'd like to expand his role. "Without making it a huge story, I'm quite sure that Troy will be lined up in different places this year," coach John Harbaugh said. "He can split out and play receiver. He can play running back. We definitely want to expand guys."
