Le?Ron McClain will likely be returning to fullback this season despite being Baltimore's leading rusher in 2008. He will be counted on to open holes for Willis McGahee and Ray Rice.
?With the success I had last year at halfback, I'm leaning more towards tailback," McClain said at last weekend?s minicamp. "But you know me, I?m going to play my role and do whatever I can to help the team. I know they've got a plan for us and it involves the whole 11.?
May 2009 - Baltimore Ravens Wiretap
Report: Ravens Will Sign WR Washington
The Ravens will sign veteran wide receiver Kelley Washington, according to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.
The deal is expected to be finalized by Friday, but the details weren't immediately available.
Washington Likely To Catch On With Ravens?
Wide receiver Kelley Washington appears to have outperformed Jerry Porter and Tab Perry in tryouts with the Ravens.
Washington stood out during two-minute drill exercises on Sunday, making a nice catch for a touchdown from backup quarterback Troy Smith.
"I was able to make some good plays and some bad plays," Washington said. "But the thing I wanted to focus on was the individual drills. I wanted to show them that I could get in and out of routes and catch the ball. There's only so many things you can do in five practices."
Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said that the decision on who to sign will be difficult.
"To be fair, we would like to sign at least one guy," Harbaugh said. "But it depends on their situation and what else they have going on. It's just hard to predict right now. But we liked all three guys."
Ravens' Mason May Miss Training Camp
Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason could miss the start of the team's training camp as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
Despite the possibilty of missing time, Mason is optimistic that he'll be ready for the start of the 2009 season.
"I guarantee I'll be ready by the first game, that's all I can say," Mason said Sunday, the final day of the team's minicamp. "Everything else, we'll play it by ear."
Mason had surgery to repair his scapula and the labrum in his left shoulder in February.
