Ravens Trade For Safety Gerome Sapp

May 18, 2014 1:38 AM

The Baltimore Ravens traded a conditional 2007 draft pick for Indianapolis Colts safety Gerome Sapp. The Ravens hope the move creates competition at free safety with rookie Dawan Landry. "It was just an opportunity presented to us that allows us to upgrade our football team," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "He knows the system and he won't be penalized by not being here. He gets a chance to start fresh."

Goodbye Steve McNair, hello Billy Volek as the Titans' new starting quarterback for 2006. And yes, rookie Vince Young will get his chance to play this season, too. "Let's face it. You're going to see [No.] 10 on the field this year," coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday. "Where and when and how, I can't be specific, but you're going to see him on the field at some time." The Titans wished McNair well on Thursday as they completed a trade with the Ravens, getting a fourth-round draft pick.

Jamal Lewis Arrives At Minicamp

Jun 17, 2014 1:44 PM

With the continuing anticipation over the potential acquisition of Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair, and the competition with incumbent starter Kyle Boller which would then ensue, the arrival of tailback Jamal Lewis for the Baltimore Ravens' mandatory minicamp this week elicited only a ripple. And given Lewis' travails over the past 18 months -- a stretch that included a guilty plea to federal drug charges, stints in a federal corrections facility in Florida and a halfway house in Atlanta, ankle surgery and a disappointing 2005 season -- that's not an altogether bad thing.

Jamal Lewis Expected To Report

Jul 4, 2014 6:11 AM

Running back Jamal Lewis is expected to report to the Ravens today after missing the first three weeks of spring workouts. He recently completed his 500 hours of community service in Atlanta, the final obligation to last year's federal drug plea bargain. "To have him here the next two weeks and for a full training camp will put us light-years ahead of where he was last year," Ravens coach Brian Billick said.
