Giants' Joe Judge Wanted Jason Garrett Out Last Year

Nov 29, 2021 8:58 AM

Joe Judge wanted Jason Garrett out as the New York Giants' offensive coordinator just months into last season.

The Giants moved on from Garrett last week. Garrett had strong support from Giants ownership as they valued his experience has a head coach.

According to sources, Judge was already displeased with the offense when he fired offensive line coach Marc Colombo last November, with some in that organization bracing for Garrett to be gone after the season, if not sooner.

"It was already bad between them then," the source said.

Freddie Kitchens Will Call Plays For Giants

Nov 24, 2021 7:29 AM

In the wake of Jason Garrett's firing as offensive coordinator, Freddie Kitchens will call plays for the New York Giants.

Kitchens joined Joe Judge's staff as tight ends coach in 2020. He was moved into a senior offensive assistant role this season.

He has taken over play-calling duties during the season before. Kitchens went from running backs coach to offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns after Hue Jackson was fired as head coach during the 2018 season.

Joe Judge Says Coaches To Blame For Giants' Struggles

Nov 23, 2021 8:04 AM

Joe Judge says the coaches are more to blame than the players for the New York Giants' struggles.

The Giants lost 30-10 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

"You can put that down tonight. Got that?" Judge said after the loss. "You guys can write that tonight. Players have to execute. That is their job, right? It is our job to teach them. It's their job to go out and execute.

"But we've got to make sure we put them in position to have success. That has to be consistent, by the way. So, you can go ahead and write that down. I'm not going to debate that."

Joe Judge: Giants Have Had Headset Issues All Season

Nov 2, 2021 9:02 AM

Joe Judge says the New York Giants had to use timeouts they didn't want to use against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night because their headsets weren't working and they couldn't get their plays called.

"It's happened in every game so far," Judge said. "We deal with the league and they keep telling us there are different software updates, but we had to call two timeouts today because we're trying to send the deals in personnel-wise and we have half the headsets aren't getting any reception  ... Whatever the issue with that is, the people involved with that had better get it fixed fast."

Judge said he doesn't know if league or Giants employees are in charge of getting the headsets to work but that it "better be fixed fast."
