Peterson Better Than Advertised?

Aug 1, 2014 3:34 AM

The Vikings' first-round draft pick, running back Adrian Peterson, has been everything Brad Childress expected, the coach said Tuesday. "Exactly as advertised, and probably one better in terms of catching the football," Childress said. "He has spent a lot of time with (running backs coach) Eric Bieniemy; he lives in his hip pocket. He is hungry for knowledge . . . he's a million-mile-an-hour guy; you have got to slow him down at times."

Peterson Off To Steady Start

May 18, 2014 6:27 PM

Vikings players said they were as eager as the fans to see rookie running back Adrian Peterson in a game, and everyone got their wish Friday. The team's No. 1 draft choice rushed for 33 yards on a surprising 11 carries in a 13-10 exhibition loss to the St. Louis Rams that offered no big runs but a possible glimpse of things to come. Peterson said he was nervous at first and thought he could have been a little quicker on his cuts, but he called the game an acceptable opening effort. "I'm picking it up," he said. "Those gaps will be there, and they close. Once I get that down and kind of pick it up a notch, I think things will get rolling."
