Chiefs Bring Matt Nagy Back As QB Coach

Matt Nagy is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fired in January after four seasons as head coach of the Chicago Bears, Nagy is now back with the Chiefs as senior assistant and quarterbacks coach.

The 43-year-old was with the Chiefs for five seasons from 2013 through 2017, finishing as offensive coordinator his final season.

Eric Bieniemy To Return As Offensive Coordinator Of Chiefs

Eric Bieniemy will return to the Kansas City Chiefs as offensive coordinator in 2022.

Bieniemy's contract expired after last season, and he and head coach Andy Reid recently met to discuss his future with the team. Bieniemy also worked on an expiring contract in 2020.

Bieniemy had considered coaching in college, listening to other offers or even taking off a year.

The Chiefs still have to fill their quarterbacks coach job after Mike Kafka left to become the New York Giants' offensive coordinator.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released linebacker Anthony Hitchens.

The Chiefs will save about $8.4 million against their salary cap in 2022.

Hitchens, 29, joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2018. He had 80 tackles and an interception in 15 games last season.

The contract of Eric Bieniemy with the Kansas City Chiefs is expiring and he may look for another opportunity where he will take over play calling duties.

The Chiefs have believed for a while that Bieniemy would leave for a head-coaching job, which has created a backlog of coaches behind him overdue for promotions. 

Bieniemy has yet to be hired for a head coaching job despite numerous interviews.

Giants To Hire Mike Kafka As Offensive Coordinator

The New York Giants will hire Mike Kafka from the Kansas City Chiefs as offensive coordinator under Brian Daboll. 

Kafka was the Chiefs' quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator the past two seasons. He has been an assistant under Andy Reid in Kansas City since 2017.

Daboll now has his coordinators set with Patrick Graham expected to run the defense, Thomas McGaughey the special teams and Kafka the offense. 

Kafka, 34, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and Reid in the fourth round out of Northwestern in the 2010 NFL draft.

Bengals-Chiefs drew 47.85 million viewers compared to 41.85 million viewers for Chiefs/Bills.
