Golden Tate Agrees To Five-Year, $31M Deal With Lions

The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with Golden Tate on a five-year, $31 million deal. Tate will receive $13.25 million in guaranteed money.

Tate had emerged as a key receiver for the Seattle Seahawks.

Tate will become the Lions' No. 2 receiver across from Calvin Johnson.

Lions Signs Joique Bell To $9M Deal

The Detroit Lions and Joique Bell have agreed upon a $7 million deal.

Bell gained 650 yards on 166 carries last season sharing duties at running back with Reggie Bush.

Bell will play the 2014 season under the $2.187 million tender, then the two-year deal will kick in. 

In total, Bell's new deals will be worth a little more than $9 million over three seasons and contain $4.3 million in guaranteed money.

Ravens Considered Hiring Jim Caldwell In 2008

The Baltimore Ravens considered hiring Jim Caldwell as head coach in 2008 before deciding upon John Harbaugh.

Caldwell was promoted to head coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2009 and is now head coach of the Detroit Lions.

"The year that we hired John Harbaugh, Jim was a candidate for our head coach position so I got a chance to spend some time with him during that time," Newsome said last week at the combine in Indianapolis. "But having him in our building for two years and the way he carried himself and the type of man he is, I think the city of Detroit and their fans are going to be very pleased."
