Cam Newton Says He's 'Failed' Amid 2-6 Season

Jul 14, 2014 2:37 AM

Cam Newton has had an excellent rookie season individually, but the Panthers are just 2-6 and at the bottom of the NFC South standings. "If anything, I feel like I've failed myself due to this game is about wins and losses," Newton told the 2 Live Stews. "And I'm not hanging my hat on no 2-6 season and we still have an opportunity to change that." Newton said he's a long way from being satisfied with what he's done and ready to celebrate. "I really haven't had the opportunity to just soak it all in and take everything in. But, nor am I trying to just sit back and say, 'Man, look what I did,'" Newton said. "I still have things that I want to do."

Shockey Seeks Extension From Panthers

Nov 7, 2014 8:38 AM

Jeremy Shockey has enjoyed his time with the Panthers and he wants to see through the team's rebuilding process. Shockey, who signed a one-year deal worth $4 million last offseason, said he hopes to negotiate a contract extension with the Panthers. "You see people grow and you know it's going to be a special team. You want to be a part of that," Shockey said. "You were here when new coaches came and developed. You don't want to be somewhere else because you put so much hard work in and you've seen people grow. And the only thing it's going to do is get better and better."

Olsen: Forte's Contract Woes 'A Little Crazy'

Nov 7, 2014 8:37 AM

Former Bears tight end Greg Olsen finds the team's contract negotiations with running back Matt Forte to be a bit confusing. "Obviously, you know, I think it's a little crazy they won't reward their best player. ... Especially offensively, he has been pretty much the whole offense," Olsen told WMVP-AM in Chicago. "I mean, he single-handedly beat us (in Week 4). Him and (Devin) Hester. ... He's been like this since he was a rookie. He's come in and carried a heavy load under two different offensive coordinators, and his play has just continued to get better. Those are the guys you want to see rewarded, the guys that do it the right way. "You've got to hope that they do the right thing, but, as we all know, sometimes they make decisions that are a little crazy."
