Bills safety Lawyer Milloy practiced Friday, but remains questionable for Buffalo's game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday due to a thumb injury. Milloy, who will be a game-time decision, practiced for the first time this week after undergoing surgery to repair a broken right thumb suffered in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. If he does play, Milloy will have to wear padding over a cast protecting the injury. "I thought he did pretty well and was pretty active," coach Mike Mularkey said after practice. If Milloy can't go, the Bills would rotate backups Rashad Baker and Coy Wire at strong safety. Wire is in his fourth year, while Baker was an undrafted rookie last season.

Barring an unexpected setback, Falcons? quarterback Michael Vick will start Sunday's game at Buffalo. Vick has been nursing a sore left hamstring that has seen improvement as the week has progressed.

Michael Vick was held out of practice Wednesday with a sore left hamstring, but the Atlanta quarterback said he may play Sunday at Buffalo even if he can't practice the rest of the week. ``As long as I'm getting mental reps, I think I'll be able to go out there and execute the game plan,'' Vick said. ``It's possible I may not practice all week. Who knows? I'm just playing it by ear right now. I just have to be able to be me.'' Second-year quarterback Matt Schaub, who made one start last season, ran the first-team offense Wednesday. Vick did some light running on the side but did not try to test the hamstring. ``We're not trying to rush it,'' he said. ``It's too early in the week.''

Michael Vick left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter vs. the Seahawks with tightness in his left hamstring. He returned to play, but left before the game was over.

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Kevin Mathis is out for the season after tearing up his left knee in practice. Mathis, a nine year-veteran, is 31 and faces a long rehabilitation, raising the possibility his career could be over. He went down on a routine drill Wednesday, two days after he was ejected from the season opener against Philadelphia before the game even started.
