Jamaal Charles Admits 2014 Was Frustrating Season

Apr 14, 2015 4:08 PM

Jamaal Charles admitted he felt frustrated by injuries in 2014.

Charles’ troubles began at the conclusion of training camp in St. Joseph, Mo. He twisted an ankle when he stepped off a curb he didn’t see while carrying a box from the dormitory at Missouri Western State University.

“I feel good,’’ Charles said. “My body has healed up, rested up.

“I was frustrated more last season as I’ve ever been because of all of those injuries. I was frustrated because I didn’t feel my body was right the whole season. But I battled through that time. That’s all I could do. I felt like I was in a fight and I had to respond. I had 12 weeks to finish the season, and it felt to me like I had 12 rounds to go.’’

Charles missed just one game, but missed a lot of practice time.

Cowboys Confident In Ability To Maximize Darren McFadden

Apr 6, 2015 1:30 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the NFL's best offensive lines and they're confident they can maximize the talent of Darren McFadden.

McFadden averaged less than 3.4 yards per carry for the Oakland Raiders over the past three seasons.

“We liked him a lot coming out of college,’’ Jason Garrett said. “He came out in ’08. That was the same year we drafted Felix Jones. We spent a lot of time with him and on him. I think he was the fourth player taken in that draft. There was a lot to like about him.

“We are confident in the environment we can create for our guys to bring the best out in him.’’

McFadden played in 16 games for the first time in his career last season. He missed 19 games over the previous three seasons and has played in more than 13 games in a season only once in his career.

“He is a big explosive back,’’ Garrett said. “He is quick. He is fast. He is physical. He can run inside. He can hit the home run.  He can catch the ball. He can protect.

“Now injuries have been an issue for him. We don’t think significant injuries, more the soft tissue type injuries. Hopefully we can create the right environment for him to be healthy and take advantage of those opportunities.’’

Sammy Watkins Underwent Surgery Near Hip

Apr 4, 2015 6:04 PM

Sammy Watkins has undergone surgery in an area near his hip.

Watkins had the procedure done sometime before the Super Bowl for the injury that was suffered in a Week 13 win over the Cleveland Browns, according to sources.

It's unclear if the procedure will affect Watkins' availability for voluntary offseason workouts, which begin April 6.

Watkins led the Buffalo Bills in targets (128), yards (982) and receiving touchdowns (six).
