Winslow Wanted Buccaneers To Hire Chudzinski

Kellen Winslow was disappointed the Buccaneers didn't name Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski its new coach. However, Winslow expressed enthusiasm for the man Tampa Bay did hire, former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. "I was really hoping for coach Chudzinski, who I was with at Miami and Cleveland," Winslow told Sirius XM NFL Radio. "But, you know, we got another guy in Greg Schiano who I know and heard he's one of the best coaches people have been around. And he's got a lot of enthusiasm and is real energetic so I’m excited, man."

The Buccaneers have finalized a five-year deal to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano as their new head coach. The 45-year-old former Scarlet Knights coach was hired Thursday, more than three weeks after the Bucs fired Raheem Morris following a 4-12 record.

Mike Sherman is among the finalists for the head coaching position of the Buccaneers. Chip Kelly rejected an offer from Tampa Bay on Monday. The Bucs are scheduling second interviews from a list of known candidates that include former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, former Vikings coach Brad Childress, former Browns, Chiefs, Redskins and Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer, Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements and Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

Chip Kelly has decided not to take an offer from the Buccaneers to fill their head-coaching vacancy and will remain at Oregon. "His heart is with college football and Oregon and he's no longer being considered," general manager Mark Dominik said. Kelly and the Bucs had been deep in the process of finishing a deal Sunday night.
