Jimmy Garoppolo Not Expected To Start In Week 9

Oct 31, 2017 8:18 AM

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to give Jimmy Garoppolo some time before they make him their starting quarterback.

The 49ers acquired Garoppolo from the New England Patriots on Monday for a second-round draft pick.

San Francisco is 0-8 and will face the Arizona Cardinals this week. They have a bye in Week 11, which could mean we won't see Garoppolo behind center until Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks.

49ers Acquire Jimmy Garoppolo From Patriots For 2nd Rounder

Oct 31, 2017 9:24 AM

The San Francisco 49ers have acquired Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots for a second round draft pick.

The 49ers owned two second round draft picks in 2018 and traded their own to the Patriots. The pick will be one of the first of the second round.

Garoppolo is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

The Patriots have traded both Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett this season as they appear confident Tom Brady has several seasons remaining.

Brady said he hoped Garoppolo will make a good starting quarterback for the 49ers.

"He's put in all the effort," Brady said. "I've watched him for 3½ years and really enjoyed working with him. Hopefully he goes on and does a great job."

Colin Kaepernick's Attorney Believes Collusion Smoking Gun May Exist

Oct 21, 2017 11:15 PM

The attorney for Colin Kaepernick believes there's a smoking gun of collusion to support his grievance.

Mark Geragos was hired by Kaepernick to represent him.

“What you need is the email from . . .  Goodell to the owners, you need that smoking gun of the ‘don’t hire this guy,'” Adam Carolla said in a podcast that debuted Saturday.

“We have very good reason to believe that that exists,” Geragos replied.

Geragos also echoed a point regarding the potential value of digital evidence.

“The interesting thing will be when the discovery comes, and I expect the discovery to be very quickly,” Geragos said regarding the procedures for obtaining evidence before a formal hearing occurs. “You know, you can’t erase stuff anymore like you used to be able to; texts, emails, things of that nature.”

49ers Backed Out Of NaVorro Bowman Trade With Saints

Oct 15, 2017 9:31 AM

The San Francisco 49ers had agreed upon a trade of NaVorro Bowman to the New Orleans Saints for a seventh round draft pick. But the 49ers backed out of the deal when they learned Bowman preferred to become a free agent and choose his next team.

"Lots of teams [are] trying to sign" Bowman now that he's a free agent, according to one source, and it will take "a few days" for him to make a decision.

The 49ers also spoke with the Ravens, Browns and Panthers. The Oakland Raiders are another possible destination as a contending team that wouldn't force Bowman to relocate.

The NFL has reached out to the San Francisco 49ers about moving the Oakland Raiders' game in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers to Levi's Stadium due to air quality concerns.

The Raiders have had their practices cut short due to air quality from the fires in the Bay Area.

Levi's Stadium is located several miles south of Oakland in Santa Clara and hasn't been impacted as harshly by the fires.

Levi's Stadium was built with the possibility of being shared by two home teams.
