Steelers Not Ready To Hit 'Panic Button'

Sep 29, 2021 9:14 AM

Despite a 1-2 start and stagnant offense, Mike Tomlin isn't ready to hit the panic button for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"We're not going to push the panic button," Tomlin said. "What do I mean by the panic button? We're not going to dramatically change who and what we are at this juncture.

"We're not resistant to change for the purposes of getting better, but we're not going to be so unsteady that we move away from our compass, our identity that we've worked hard to develop -- and will continue to work hard to develop -- and the emphasis on the style of play, whatever that may be in all three phases."

The Steelers rank last in the NFL with just 159 rushing yards through three weeks. Ben Roethlisberger has a QBR of 35.5, which ranks 28th in the league.

Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with a left pectoral injury.

"I don't know specifically when Ben got injured in game," Tomlin said. "I don't know that he does. You know, sometimes just in the midst of competition, adrenaline and so forth, you just don't know. Sometimes things just come up after."

Roethlisberger was sacked just twice, but hit 10 times in the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Ben Roethlisberger: Offense Is Going To Have Growing Pains

Sep 9, 2021 8:54 AM

Ben Roethlisberger isn't expecting the Pittsburgh Steelers to be a well-oiled machine early in the regular season.

Matt Canada installed a new system this offseason and the team overhauled its offensive line.

"Like anything, there's going to be growing pains," Roethlisberger said. "We're all going to experience them. Even someone in his 18th season is going to experience growing pains. The key is, do we learn from those growing pains? How often do those pains come?"

The Steelers will face the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
