Jan 28, 2021 5:33 PM

Ben Roethlisberger is ready and willing to what will be necessary to lower his $41.25 million cap hit for the 2021 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I want to do everything I can and made that very clear to them from the very beginning that it was my idea to basically help the team however I can this year,” Roethlisberger said. “I don’t care about my pay at all this year.”

Roethlisberger also indicated he views 2021 as likely his last season in the NFL.

“I am pretty sure I want to go one more year [because] I think I can do it and give us a real chance and winning,” Roethlisberger said.

Steelers Won't Bring Back Three Coaches, Including Randy Fichtner

Jan 14, 2021 2:47 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers won't bring back a trio of coaches under Mike Tomlin.

Randy Fichtner, the team's offensive coordinator, won't return. Pittsburgh won't renew the contracts of offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett and defensive backs coach Tom Bradley either.

James Daniel, who's been with the organization since 2004, also is retiring as tight ends coach after 17 seasons with the organization.

"I want to thank all three of the coaches for their commitment and dedication to the Pittsburgh Steelers," Tomlin said in a statement. "They have all played integral roles in our success and I am appreciative of their efforts. Personally, Randy and I have been in Pittsburgh since I hired him in 2007, but our relationship began well before that. He has been a friend of mine for years and wish his family nothing but the best, and I am eternally grateful for our relationship both on and off the field."

Ben Roethlisberger Isn't Ready To Discuss Future

Jan 11, 2021 8:42 AM

Ben Roethlisberger isn't ready to discuss whether he'll return next season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a 48-37 playoff loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday night, ending a season that began with them streaking out to an 11-0 record.

"I hope the Steelers want me back, if that's the way we go," Roethlisberger said. "There will be discussions, but this isn't the time for that."

The quarterback has one year left on his contract.

Roethlisberger set an NFL record with 47 completions and had 501 yards passing and four touchdowns in the Wild Card loss, but he tossed four interceptions that dug an early hole for the Steelers.
