Christopher Johnson insists the New York Jets are "definitely not" tanking this season.

Johnson is Jets chairman and CEO with older brother Woody now serving as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom for President Donald Trump.

The Jets have been perceived by some as sacrificing wins this season in attempts at securing a higher draft pick in 2018.

Sam Darnold is considered the probable first overall pick and would give the Jets a franchise level quarterback.

Josh McCown will receive a bonus of $125,000 for every game he starts this season with the New York Jets.

McCown is earning a base salary of $6 million that is fully guaranteed.

The per start bonus of $125,000 is believed to he one of the largest per-game play-time bonuses in the NFL.

McCown beat out Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty in an open competition for the starting job during training camp.

The Jets could have incentive to bench McCown if they fall out of the playoff race.

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Sheldon Richardson from the New York Jets for Jermaine Kearse and draft considerations.

Richardson was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2013 and a Pro Bowler in 2014.

Matt Forte is confident the New York Jets won't trade him despite reports that they are shopping the running back.

Forte said he spoke to general manager Mike Maccagnan and was assured that he's not going anywhere.

"I know it’' not true," he said. "I checked with the man who makes the moves. He basically told me, 'Don't listen to the reports.'"
