Sep 2, 2014 12:47 PM

Richie Incognito and the Miami Dolphins have agreed for him to remain away from the team, but he'll continue to get paid.

Glazer Tried To Get Martin To Join Incognito For Interview

Oct 31, 2014 8:36 AM

Jay Glazer interviewed Richie Incognito last weekend and he also attempted to have Jonathan Martin join him.

"I was very actively trying to get Jonathan Martin before this—absolutely, extremely hard—and talking to his people," said Glazer. "Quite frankly, and I told his attorney David Cornwell this, the one way to get this thing to end would be a Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin interview where they hug, kiss, hold hands and they walk out together. In my opinion, that is the only way both could go back in the locker room. I was trying to help make that happen and I was trying to get both guys in the interview. That’s what I was actually working for."

Martin's camp is believed to have leaked several stories to ESPN, which may eventually air an interview with him.

"They [Martin’s camp] were kind of leading me on that it might happen with me [both guys together], but after Richie’s interview it was all out the window. I was hopeful I would get it because that is my job. I was hopeful."

Jonathan Martin Unlikely To Play For Dolphins Again

Oct 15, 2014 11:51 PM

Jonathan Martin wants to continue his NFL career, but is likely done for the season and doesn't want to return to the Miami Dolphins.

Martin is relieved to be away from the Dolphins as the past season and a half became unbearable, according to a source.

Martin was the target of bullying by teammate Richie Incognito.

The NFL's independent investigator, Ted Wells, is expected to interview Martin later this week, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Dolphins' Teammates Don't Believe Incognito Is Racist

Dec 11, 2014 3:42 PM

Richie Incognito made racist remarks to Jonathan Martin in a voice message, but Incognito is accepted by the African-American players in the Miami Dolphins' locker room.

Jonathan Martin, who is bi-racial, was reportedly not readily accepted by his African-American teammates with his Stanford education and background as the son of Harvard educated attorneys.

"I don't have a problem with Richie," Mike Wallace said. "I love Richie."

"Richie is honorary," said one player who left the Dolphins this offseason. "I don't expect you to understand because you're not black. But being a black guy, being a brother is more than just about skin color. It's about how you carry yourself. How you play. Where you come from. What you've experienced. A lot of things."

Baldwin: 'Disappointing' For Martin, Stanford To Be Labeled 'Soft'

Dec 18, 2014 1:19 AM

Doug Baldwin, who was a teammate of Jonathan Martin at Stanford, spoke thoughtfully and in a reserved way when asked about his situation.

But Baldwin took exception to Jason La Canfora's question about the perception that players from Stanford are soft.

The notion seems absurd when considering recent Stanford alums such as Andrew Luck, Richard Sherman and David DeCastro.

"I have lots of things I would like to say about that. But I'm going to refrain ... I'll keep it politically correct. Stanford has developed a very physical program," Baldwin said. "If you don't believe me, ask any of the PAC-12 teams that played Stanford or teams outside the conference that have played Stanford how physical and how NFL-ready the players are that come out of Stanford. So for that to be said, on top of all the evidence that has come out about what has been said to Jonathan Martin with the text messages and voicemails and whatever else.

"For someone to call him soft when we see the text messages and voicemails and what has been said, it's disappointing that our society thinks it's OK for those things to go on and if someone can't take it, they're soft."

Baldwin declined to speak specifically on the matter but he has talked with Martin via text.

"I've known Jonathan Martin for three years in college and a total of five or six years now whatever it may be. I can only speak about Jonathan Martin's character," Baldwin said. "He's a great guy, a great teammate, a great person. It was shocking to hear because I knew that for something to move Jonathan out of the situation, out of the game he loves it had to be serious. So my prayers and well wishes go out to him because it's a tough time for him right now."

Report: Dolphins' Coaches Encouraged Incognito To Toughen Up Martin

Oct 14, 2014 9:39 PM

Coaches of the Miami Dolphins asked Richie Incognito to toughen up Jonathan Martin last spring after the second-year offensive lineman missed a voluntary workout last spring, according to multiple sources.

Incognito is now believed to have taken those order too far.

"I'm just trying to weather the storm right now. This will pass," Incognito told WSVN-TV when reached outside a doctor's office.

Incognito is accused of bullying Martin with racially incendiary language.

Incognito was encouraged by his coaches to make a call that would "get him into the fold," one source said.
