Deshaun Watson May Have First Injured Knee Against Seahawks

Nov 5, 2017 12:54 PM

Deshaun Watson may have initially injured his right knee in the fourth quarter of the Houston Texans' loss at the houston Texans.

The Texans still think Watson tore the ACL on Thursday at practice, but are aware of a hit he absorbed in Week 8.

Frank Clark jumped over Texans running back Lamar Miller and rolled up on Watson, who immediately grabbed his right knee on the play. Watson finished the game, didn't complain about the injury after it, and did not get treatment on it last week, per sources.

Watson suffered a tear of the ACL on a non-contact play in practice.

"I can't be 100 percent sure," one doctor said of the chances that Watson tore his ACL against Seattle, "but I wouldn't be surprised. Something happened as he grabbed his knee. And if you look at it in slow motion, one mechanism of injury is there."

Texans Sign Matt McGloin

Nov 2, 2017 5:44 PM

The Houston Texans have signed Matt McGloin after losing Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the 2017 season with a torn ACL.

McGloin played for the Oakland Raiders from 2013 until 2016 but didn't start in their playoff game after Derek Carr was hurt as the team instead turned to Connor Cook.

McGloin signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason and was released before the start of the season.

McGloin played for Bill O'Brien at Penn State.

The Texans passed on an opportunity to pursue Colin Kaepernick despite owner Bob McNair's racially charged comments during a recent meeting with players over the anthem controversy.

Deshaun Watson Suffers Torn ACL

Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL during practice on Thursday, an on-site test confirmed.

Watson will undergo an MRI for what was a non-contact injury to further diagnose the extent of the injury. Watson also suffered a torn ACL in his freshman season at Clemson.

Watson has been one of the NFL's best quarterbacks since becoming the Texans' starting quarterback.

The NFL named Watson AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.

Tom Savage will start for the Texans moving forward.

Seahawks, Texans Amend Trade After Jeremy Lane Fails Physical

Nov 1, 2017 8:32 AM

Jeremy Lane failed his physical, forcing the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans to amend a prior trade agreement, according to a source.

The Seahawks had agreed to send Lane, a 2018 fifth-round pick and 2019 second-round pick to the Texans for Duane Brown. In the new agreement, Houston will receive a third-round pick in 2018, while Seattle will also get a 2018 fifth-rounder.

Lane was active on Sunday for the Seahawks, but was replaced as the nickelback after playing six snaps. Pete Carroll said he thought Lane had a thigh bruise.
