Clinton Portis visited the Bengals on Tuesday, but he left Cincinnati without a contract offer.
According to a league source, the Bengals also worked out veteran Larry Johnson.
Portis has worked out for at least five teams including the Titans, Seahawks and Dolphins after being released by Redskins in February.

Benson Pursuing Legal Action Against NFLPA
Bengals running back Cedric Benson is pursuing action against NFL Players Association, according to a league source.
He is currently appealing a three-game suspension that was issued for his arrest during the lockout.
Benson is taking action against the NFLPA in regards to this situation, charging the organization with not properly representing his rights as he is among eight players who were part of a "side-letter agreement" that was signed by NFL and NFLPA leaders on Aug. 4 detailing players who could potentially be disciplined for actions during the lockout.
Cedric Benson Facing 3-Game Suspension
Bengals running back Cedric Benson is facing a three-game suspension for player-conduct violations during the lockout, according to sources.
Benson will have an appeal hearing Tuesday with the NFL to determine his fate.
There is no timetable for when Benson would serve the possible suspension if he loses the appeal, but he is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
More Than Two Pounds Of Pot Found At Jerome Simpson's Home
On Wednesday, police confiscated a package containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana shipped from California to the home of Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson in Kentucky.
Cincinnati tackle Anthony Collins also was present at the house, along with a woman who signed for the package.
Police also found six more pounds of pot inside the house as well as drug paraphernalia such as "packaging materials, scales and smoking devices."
Authorities detained the players but didn't arrest them and no charges have been filed.

Palmer is said to be set in his stance and resolved not to return to Cincinnati, according to an ESPN.com report on Sunday.

The Bengals' home opener against San Francisco on Sept. 25 will be blacked out on local television, the fifth straight home game that Cincinnati has failed to sell out.
The club announced on Saturday that there are so many tickets left that it has no chance of selling out the 65,500-seat stadium.

"It's fine. I just lost a little feeling and couldn't grip it like I wanted to," he said. "If I could have griped the ball I would have stayed in the game. The plan is to play. I'm going to come in and do whatever I can to make it better."

Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton left his first NFL game with an injured right wrist.
The team announced that Dalton would undergo X-rays on the wrist.
Dalton was hit by Browns rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor on Cincinnati's final offensive play in the first half. He favored his arm as he came off the field.
He was replaced by veteran Bruce Gradkowski.
Dalton went 10 of 15 for 81 yards and threw a 2-yard TD pass to Jermaine Gresham.
