Ochocinco: Carson Palmer Is Gone

Oct 31, 2014 6:31 AM

Carson Palmer says he'll never play for the Bengals again and his house in the Cincinnati suburbs recently sold. One of his favorite targets said Thursday he doesn't doubt the quarterback won't play for the team again. Chad Ochocinco, interviewed by "SportsCenter" on Thursday, said Palmer is a man of his word. Ochocinco said that if Palmer comes out of character, and says he wants out or is going to retire, then the Bengals should listen to what he says. "He will sit out, he will retire," Ochocinco said from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ochocinco added that Palmer is "frustrated" and wants a "fresh start."

Agent: Owens Isn't Retiring

Oct 30, 2014 4:07 AM

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for wide receiver Terrell Owens, says that his client isn't retiring. Rosenhaus also confirmed that Owens had surgery to repair a torn ACL this offseason, but that he'll be ready for the 2011 season. "He's many, many months into his recovery now. He's doing fantastic," Rosenhaus told ESPN. He said Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery on Owens in April, was confident the 37-year-old receiver had a chance to play as soon as August. Rosenhaus would not reveal how Owens injured the knee but said it did not happen while the receiver was taping a TV show for VH1, as a source claimed.

Bengals Tired Of Palmer Talk

May 20, 2014 2:43 AM

Even members of the Bengals have grown tired of questions about quarterback Carson Palmer's future with the team. Palmer is threatening to retire if the team doesn't trade him. "If Carson don't want to be here, damn him, period, point blank," said cornerback Adam Jones. That was followed by Dhani Jones citing Jordan Palmer referring to his older brother as an ex-teammate: "That tells you everything you need to know. If Jordan is saying that, he knows better than anyone else. I think Carson has had enough and he's ready to move on." Andrew Whitworth, the team's player rep, has also been asked the Carson question umpteen times and admits that even he has become weary of it. And in his case he is ready to move on. "I find it funny people keep publishing this stuff because we have been talking about it since January," Whitworth said. "If he's made a personal decision that he feels is best for him that's great but the same way we respect that, he has to respect we have to move on. I play here and signed to win football games not for anything else. It's not for friends. It's to win and compete."

Ochocinco: Palmer 'Means Business' With Retirement Talk

Apr 24, 2014 6:36 AM

Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is convinced quarterback Carson Palmer is serious about his plans to retire if the team doesn't trade him. "There's this one thing you have to understand about Carson. When a guy that grows a random beard says he's going to do something, he means it," Ochocinco said. "Seriously. Seriously, That's totally out of his character. When someone like that grows a random beard and says he's going to retire -- if he doesn't mean traded -- he means business. And it's unfortunate, but it is what it is."

Urlacher Takes Shot At Dhani Jones

May 24, 2014 8:51 PM

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher took a shot at Cincinnati's Dhani Jones after the defender failed to include him on a list of the NFL's ten best linebackers. Jones, who ranked himself seventh, asked the question: "When was the last time Urlacher got off a block?" They were both drafted in 2000. Urlacher went ninth, while Jones lasted until the 177th pick. "I think we were drafted in the same class, and I haven't heard anything about him since then," Urlacher said. "I saw him on a TV show with a bow tie on, though. So I know him better for the way he dresses than what he does on the football field. "Look, guys are going to talk. I've definitely had a lot worse things said about me publicly from guys, so I can live with it."

Ochocinco: Prior 'Has All The Tools'

Feb 10, 2014 7:08 AM

Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco threw around with Terrelle Pryor recently and believes the former Ohio State quarterback has a bright future. "Yesterday was my second day throwing with Pryor. Dude's arm strength, timing was unbelievable," Ochocinco told ESPN's "Waddle and Silvy" show. "I don't care what ESPN says, I don't care what they report, I saw it with my own eyes. ... Listen to what I'm saying: With the right coaching, he can become a great NFL quarterback, because he has all the tools." Pryor, a three-year starter for the Buckeyes, announced last week that he is giving up his senior season while the NCAA investigates Ohio State players getting improper benefits.

Benson Works Out With Bengals, Wants To Re-Sign

Jan 27, 2014 9:00 PM

Cedric Benson has worked out with the Bengals recently, sending another message to the team's front office that he wants to re-sign. The free agent joined his former teammates for a voluntary workout Wednesday at the University of Cincinnati, acting much more like someone who's ready to lead rather than leave. Benson has led the team in rushing in each of the last three seasons. "I've been very passive the past three years, maybe just because I had to," said Benson, who revived his career in Cincinnati after tough times in Chicago. "I'm not saying I'm a totally different person or that I'd be crazy vocal or nothing like that, but I'd be a little more expressive on work ethic and passion for the game just because that's how I am."

Bengals' Whitworth Says Team Has 'Moved On' From Palmer

Aug 7, 2014 12:38 PM

Bengals offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth said the team has "moved on" from QB Carson Palmer and that rookie QB Andy Dalton is "competitive" with a temperament similar to Drew Brees. Whitworth made his comments Tuesday on hosted by Steve Wyche and Bucky Brooks. "(Palmer is) the kind of guy when he says something he means it," Whitworth said Tuesday while appearing on NFL.com's Cover Two podcast. "I feel like people are taking him seriously and we're prepared. He made a decision he feels is best for him and his family and we've moved on."
