Matt Elam, a first round pick for the Baltimore Ravens in 2013, is spending his offseason as a part-time sales associate at a Finish Line store in Gainesville, Florida.
Elam made $3.7 million last season as the 32nd overall pick in the draft.
Elam hopes to one day own a sports merchandise store.
"I just need to get retail knowledge," Elam told the team's website. "That's basically what I'm doing. I'm getting that knowledge for when it's time."
The mall is a few miles from the University of Florida, where Elam was a first-team All-American.
Ray Rice has been charged with simple assault-domestic violence due to an incident involving his fiancee last weekend in Atlantic City.
Rice is facing legal action and could also be subject to a suspension by the NFL.
John Harbaugh does not anticipate Rice's legal situation to impact his status with the Baltimore Ravens.
"Not that I'm aware of," replied Harbaugh when asked if there is a scenario where Rice would no longer be with the Ravens. "I haven't seen anything that would remotely make me think that."
Harbaugh acknowledged that it's a complicated situation.
"Yeah, there's a lot of facts, a lot of process that has to be worked through in anything like this," Harbaugh said. "There are a lot of question marks. Ray's character, I think his character, you guys know his character. You start with that."
The Baltimore Ravens and Terrell Suggs have agreed upon a new contract.
Suggs was due to count an untenable $12.4 million against the salary cap after he struggled to make an impact in the second half of the 2013 season.
Suggs' four-year extension runs through 2019 and frees up over $4 million in cap space in 2014. Suggs will receive $16 million in fully guaranteed money over the first two years of his new deal.
