Cardinals Could Start Blaine Gabbert In 2018

Nov 28, 2017 12:07 PM

Bruce Arians can see Blaine Gabbert remaining the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback next season if Carson Palmer retires.

Palmer is out for the season.

"The way he's playing right now I'd be very, very comfortable," Arians said.

Gabbert has a 61.1 completion percentage while averaging 249 yards per game.

"I'm really proud of him," Arians said of Gabbert. "These things don't happen. I mean, you hope they don't happen very often when your top two guys go down. But we're very blessed to have him and he has taken the bull by the horns and showing us, 'I'm a player. I can play at this level and play very high.'"

Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald Agree On One-Year Extension

Nov 17, 2017 1:42 PM

The Arizona Cardinals have announced a one-year contract extension with Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald's contract previously had a voidable year in 2018 for cap purposes, but the new agreement assures the future Hall of Famer will play next season.

He currently ranks sixth in the NFL's all-time receiving list with 15,066 yards. Barring injury, he should finish the season third, behind only Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens.
