Plaxico Burress' lawyer said Sunday that he has been advised the Giants' receiver will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Benjamin Brafman said Burress, "will enter a plea of not guilty."
Burress shot himself in the leg accidentally on Friday night when out in New York City.

Giants' Pierce Questioned By Authorities
Giants' linebacker Antonio Pierce was reportedly questioned by authorities regarding Plaxico Burress' accidental shooting on Friday night.
Pierce was questioned on Saturday night at the team hotel and is cooperating fully with authorities and NFL security, according to the team.
There have been reports that Pierce tried to help Burress keep the incident under wraps.
Report: Giants' Tynes Pursues Pardon For Brother
Giants' kicker Lawrence Tynes is reportedly seeking a pardon from the Bush administration for his brother, who is serving a 27-year sentence for dealing drugs.
Tynes recently hired a lawyer to handle the effort to have his brother freed, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
"The situation that Mark found himself in was partly due to his own mistakes," the lawyer said. "We have to make sure that what we submit is accurate and explains Mark's position and why we believe the sentence is excessive."
Vick Pleads Guilty, Hopes For Early Release
Michael Vick pleaded guilty Tuesday to a state dogfighting charge in Virginia, a step that could make him eligible for early release from prison.
"I want to apologize to the court, my family, and to all the kids who looked up to me as a role model," Vick told the judge.
Vick is serving a 23-month sentence in Leavenworth, Kan., for a federal dogfighting conviction. He's scheduled for release on July 20, 2009, and will serve three years' probation.
Jets' Ainge Suspended For Steroids
From the NFL, according to Newsday, on Friday:
"Erik Ainge of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL Policy on Steroids and Related Substances.
Ainge?s suspension begins immediately. He will be eligible to rejoin the team on Monday, December 15, following the Jets? December 14 game against the Buffalo Bills."
Jerry Would Welcome Pacman Back
Adam Jones will have his indefinite suspension reviewed by Roger Goodell following Sunday's game at Washington, but there is no indication when or if he will be allowed back in the NFL.
Jerry Jones said he has spoken with "key NFL people," regarding Adam Jones but not Goodell. If Adam Jones is allowed to return, Jerry Jones does not believe the player would be a distraction.

"Not if he's adhering to the kind of things that he has to address," the owner said. "He was a hard worker, hard practicer and certainly contributed positively to our team. So I don't consider him a distraction."
