Jason McCourty has announced his retirement from the NFL, marking the end of a 13-season career for the former sixth-round draft pick.

Drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2009, McCourty also played for the winless Cleveland Browns in 2017 and won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2018.

"These past 13 seasons have been one hell of a journey," Jason McCourty said in an Instagram post. "And as I reflect and look back on my career, I have far surpassed any and every expectation I set for myself back in 2009 -- and that's what I'm most proud of when I look back at my career."

McCourty signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2021, playing seven games before being placed on season-ending injured reserve in October 2021.

It doesn't look like the Miami Dolphins and Mike Gesicki will come to terms on a long-term deal before Friday's deadline.

Gesicki set career-highs in receptions (73) and yards (780) last season. 

The tight end was a second-round pick in 2018. He's now set to make $10.9 million on the franchise tag in 2022.

Sean Payton could return to the NFL to coach in 2023, according to a report.

The report lists the Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins as possible destinations.

The Miami Dolphins and Mike Gesicki haven't "really engaged" in talks on a new contract, according to a report.

The deadline for players with franchise tags to sign long-term deals with their current teams is July 15.

Gesicki is set to make $10.9 million under the terms of the tag.
