Brock Osweiler Agrees To Sign With Texans On Four-Year, $72M Deal

Mar 10, 2016 2:45 AM

Brock Osweiler has agreed in principle to sign with the Houston Texans on a four-year, $72 million deal.

Osweiler started several games for the Denver Broncos when Peyton Manning was injured and he was controversially benched in favor of Manning for the playoffs.

Osweiler was a second round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Arizona State by the Broncos.

The Texans have one of the NFL's best wide receivers in DeAndre Hopkins.

Osweiler was reportedly "very distant" during negotiations with the Broncos, showing them he preferred not to re-sign.

Broncos, Texans Considered Favorites For Brock Osweiler

Mar 8, 2016 2:07 PM

The Denver Broncos and Houston Texans are the two teams most likely to sign Brock Osweiler in free agency.

John Elway seemed to set the range for a deal at $5 million to $15 million per year for Osweiler. Elway also suggested Osweiler would need to sign a short-term contract before cashing in on a larger one as a more proven NFL starter at quarterback.

The Broncos didn't use a tag on Osweiler, meaning he can sign with any team of his choosing.

With Sam Bradford and Kirk Cousins getting significant money in the short-term, Osweiler very well could command $17.5 million per year.
