The NFL has converged on New York City for the first round of the 2013 draft. Without two sure-fire picks, as we saw last season with Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, there promises to be a lot of drama on Thursday night.

Andre Johnson Hopes Texans Draft Receiver In First Round

Sep 13, 2014 9:58 PM

Andre Johnson would like the Houston Texans to draft another wide receiver with 27th overall pick.

“I’d like to have another (receiver),” Johnson said. “I’m all for it. I’ve asked for it for awhile. The more weapons we have, the better it’ll be for the team.”

The Texans released Kevin Walter this offseason for cap purposes.

Johnson does realize that it is rare for wide receivers to make an instant impact.

“It’s very rare,” he said. “It depends on the guy when he gets here and how dedicated he is to his craft.”

Schaub Still Confident He Can Lead Texans To Super Bowl

Sep 13, 2014 9:56 PM

Matt Schaub is still confident that he can lead the Houston Texans to the Super Bowl.

"Absolutely I can," he told the Houston Chronicle. "With the guys that we have and the way our team is built, I definitely think so. I've had that confidence in myself ever since I started playing. I always knew that I could do that. We have the right guys and the right coaches and ... the right system."

Schaub's production declined late in the regular season, with just one touchdown pass in Houston's final four games.

"I think results changed," he said, when asked if he thought his play changed late in the season. "I don't know about the way I played. We played good football teams, teams that were fighting for their lives and playoff spots. You want to play at a certain level all the time."

J.J. Watt Claims He Played Hurt In 2012

Sep 13, 2014 9:59 PM

Houston Texans defender J.J. Watt had a monster 2012 season, but the Defensive Player of the Year says he did so while hurt.

Watt never fully healed from a dislocated left elbow suffered early in training camp.

"In the beginning, it definitely affected me," Watt said. "All the ligaments in there were torn, they were all gone, so they had to have time to recover and regroup. So obviously, I wasn't at full strength. The brace helped a lot, but it was more of a mental thing, getting over the thought process of knowing that it was injured and making sure that I could still have confidence in it. ... But (I'm) looking forward to a 100 percent full healthy season."
