The NFL will have at least four rookies starting at quarterback to begin Week 1 in Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden. All four quarterbacks were selected in the first round and named starter earlier than any rookie between 1999 and 2011.

Matt Ryan was previously the quickest quarterback to be named starter as a rookie since Peyton Manning, winning the job on August 24th of 2008.

Third round pick Russell Wilson could also start in Week 1 for the Seahawks.

Thirty-four players at the position have been drafted in the first round since 2002. Of the 30 taken from 2002-11, only three were named starter as early as August of their rookie year. David Carr, Kyle Boller, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Sam Bradford and Cam Newton each started Week 1 of their rookie season.
