The New York Giants are set to work out J.J. McCarthy privately in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Sunday, according to a report.

McCarthy's stock has been rising, with many believing he'll be the second quarterback to come off the board behind Caleb Williams.

New York has the sixth overall pick.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll have the green light from ownership to draft a quarterback next month, if they so desire.

The Giants have the sixth overall pick in this year's draft. They signed Daniel Jones to a $160 million deal last offseason.

"If they fall in love with a quarterback and believe that it's worth pick No. 6 or moving up, I certainly would support that," owner John Mara said.

Schoen has already made it known that the team is at the very least looking at quarterbacks with the high pick.

"I know they're looking at the quarterbacks. You've seen that," Mara said. "They've gone to some of the pro day, we've had some of those guys in. I don't think they're even close to making a final determination yet as to which way we're going to go on that. Those discussions will happen over the next few weeks."

The Washington Commanders are fielding calls for the second overall pick, according to a report.

Washington hasn't made a final decision yet, but the expectation is that despite listening to offers they will keep the pick and draft either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels.

First-year New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Sunday that the team isn't locked into making a selection at No. 3 in the NFL draft.

"Obviously, quarterback is definitely a priority. With that being said, we're still open to any type of deals that come our way," Mayo said on the first day of the NFL annual meeting, when asked where the team stands in its evaluation of quarterbacks.

"We're very far [into] the process, but we still have a long way to go. Definitely feel like we have time to really nail down our prospects in who we are going to go after."

The Arizona Cardinals are willing to listen to any and all offers this offseason, including for the No. 4 pick.

"There will be a big neon sign that says 'open' and I don't like it blinking, it messes with my eyes, but we're always going to be listening," general manager Monti Ossenfort joked.

"I think we'll always have the conversation, we may not get to a point where a deal makes sense, whether it's at [No.] 4 or anywhere we're picking, but we're always going to have the conversation and if it makes sense, if it's attractive to building our team, then it's something that we'll certainly consider no matter where we're at in the draft."

Marvin Harrison, Jr. won't work out at Ohio State's Pro Day on Wednesday.

Harrison also declined to participate at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The wide receiver is currently the betting favorite to go to the Arizona Cardinals with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. 

The Minnesota Vikings have acquired the No. 23 overall pick from the Houston Texans in the 2024 NFL draft.

The Vikings sent No. 42, No. 188 and a second rounder in 2025 to acquire No. 23 and No. 232.

Daniel Jones remains on the roster, but the New York Giants are still willing to trade up in this year's NFL Draft to select his possible successor, according to a report.

The Giants have the sixth overall pick, but three teams ahead of them in the draft order are also in the market for a quarterback.

"It's a good quarterback draft," general manager Joe Schoen said. "It's not just at the top. There's some guy that are mid-levels that I think will be good No. 2s. There's some guys that could be No. 3s in the draft. So yeah, I think it's a solid draft all over."

Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds on Saturday to set an NFL combine record.

"I just broke the record. It still doesn't feel real," Worthy said. "Man, just a blessing to be able to do this in front of all these fans, with all these peers I'm with."

The record was previously set by John Ross (4.22) in 2017.

Worthy started 39 games in his three seasons at Texas and finished fourth in school history in receiving yards (2,755) and eighth in punt return yards (564).
