Vick Will Start Against Saints, Still On Hot Seat

Sep 3, 2014 1:37 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed that Michael Vick will remain as the starting quarterback heading into Monday night's game against the Saints.

Vick's status has been in question since Andy Reid said about a month ago that he was the Eagles' quarterback "for now."

New Orleans has one of the worst defenses in the NFL and if Vick isn't able to produce in Week 9, the Eagles are likely to replace him with rookie Nick Foles.

Cowboys More Optimistic On Return Of Murray

Jun 27, 2014 2:53 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have expressed optimism that DeMarco Murray is closer to returning from his sprained foot.

The Cowboys may give Murray one extra week of rest.

"We’ll just have to see," Jason Garrett said Monday afternoon. "It seems like he’s moving around a little bit better. Again, that’s an injury you have to be patient with. We don’t want to rush him back then take any backward steps. We’ll see how he is day-by-day this week."

Steelers Rediscovering Running Attack With Jonathan Dwyer

Oct 31, 2014 6:27 AM

Jonathan Dwyer had 107 yards rushing in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 27-12 win over the Redskins.

Dwyer has produced two 100-yard performances in two starts and three in 13 NFL games.

Dwyer is averaging 6.7 yards per carry in his two starts.

Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) and Isaac Redman (ankle) have been sidelined the past two weeks.

"He's answered the call and taken advantage of opportunity," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. "That's what we expect from all of our young people. He did the job today, but obviously, I read his name here when I talked about the list of injuries. So, I'm not going to speak too soon on that. We'll check the totality of all of the people involved and the healthy guys get the opportunities next week."

Dwyer has an excellent combination of power and quickness.

Reid Considering Change At Quarterback

Nov 2, 2014 4:54 AM

Andy Reid is considering making a change for the Philadelphia Eagles at quarterback.

The Eagles lost to the Falcons on Sunday, with Michael Vick going 21-for-35 for 191 yards and a touchdown. Vick didn't turn the ball over in the game.

Nick Foles would start for the Eagles if Vick sits.

"Whatever decision Coach makes, I support it," Vick said. "The thing I know is, I'm giving it everything I've got out there when I step on the field. Deep down, as long as I know I'm doing that, giving it everything, that's all I can ask out of myself."

The Eagles now have a 3-4 record on the season.

Panthers To Abandon Running Back Rotation

Oct 29, 2014 12:57 AM

The Carolina Panthers are abandoning their concept of rotating running backs.

The Panthers have invested a combined $79.5 million in their tandem of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

Ron Rivera wants "find one guy, develop a rhythm and if he gets hot, ride him" against Chicago on Sunday.

"I want to see one guy pound and get a rhythm and then he gets tired and the other guy comes in," Rivera said. "To me it's hard for a back to get a rhythm when you're coming out every other play."
