Ex-Buc Boston Arrested Again

Oct 22, 2014 9:35 PM

Former Miami Dolphins' wide receiver David Boston, released with an injury settlement by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in September, was arrested Saturday evening in Cooper City on a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer without violence. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office incident report, Boston's wife Renee said she began arguing with him after she returned from a walk with their 2-year-old daughter to find her husband had left their house in the 5500 block of Southwest 104th Terrace, locked it and left their month-old daughter inside. Renee Boston told deputies that her husband threw a large leather cushion at her while she held the newborn, then pulled the phone cord out of the wall to prevent her from calling 911.

Ronde Laughs Off Tiki's Comments On Return

May 31, 2014 11:04 AM

NBC's Tiki Barber, Ronde's twin brother, said on the network's Sunday night broadcast that he had decided to trump his brother's and mother's wishes to come out of retirement and play for Tampa Bay. Was it just TV theatrics or did Ronde and his mother really try to coax him out of the studio? Ronde laughed off the suggestion Monday. "Shoot," Ronde said. "Don't always believe Tiki all the time."

Bucs Lose RB Pittman For 6-8 Weeks

Sep 8, 2014 12:29 PM

Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden joked Monday that he thinks he has the phone number for Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. But the situation at tailback is hardly a laughing matter for the Bucs, with the loss of Michael Pittman to an ankle injury suffered during the team's loss at Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Pittman will miss 6-8 weeks, Gruden acknowledged, and his absence will likely force the Bucs to add a veteran tailback either through free agency or in a trade. Fourth-year veteran back Earnest Graham, a former undrafted college free agent form the University of Florida, now becomes the starter. The backup will be rookie Kenneth Darby, who was elevated from the practice squad last week.

Tampa Bay Interested In Ricky Williams?

Sep 6, 2014 11:50 PM

On ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, reporter Chris Mortensen said: "The Bucs could be interested in Ricky (Williams) after Cadillac Williams was lost for the season. They offered the Vikings a sixth-round draft pick for Mewelde Moore. The Vikes said no, but the talks could continue, and, hey, don't forget that Priest Holmes can start practicing with the Chiefs a week from (today), one day before the trade deadline. He's working out in K.C. and even traveled with the Chiefs to San Diego last week." These rumors might make more sense now that Michael Pittman is injured.

Tampa Bay Targeting Vikings' Moore

Jan 22, 2014 3:36 AM

In the wake of the season-ending knee injury sustained by starting tailback Carnell "Cadillac" Williams last Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have inquired about the availability of Minnesota Vikings backup Mewelde Moore to bolster their backfield, sources from both teams confirmed. The Vikings have requested a first-day draft pick for the fourth-year veteran -- a price tag Tampa Bay considers exorbitant. For now, the two sides likely won't pursue a deal, but that could change before the Oct. 16 trade deadline.

Tampa TE Stevens Faces 12 Days In Jail

Oct 9, 2014 1:24 AM

A Scottsdale judge Tuesday sentenced Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens to 12 days in jail and $3,160 in fines following his March arrest here for drunken driving and other traffic violations. Judge B. Monte Morgan immediately stayed the sentence pending the outcome of an appeal expected by James Nesci, Stevens' Tucson lawyer. Stevens could have spent as many as 30 days in jail. But Morgan suspended 18 of those days, in part because Stevens is attending a required NFL rehabilitation program.
