The 49ers have filed a legal claim against their home city over leaky luxury boxes, flooded parking lots and other maintenance problems at city-owned Monster Park. The claim filed Monday, part of an ongoing battle with the city over a new stadium, alleges the city has violated terms of the stadium lease by failing to make necessary repairs after years of complaints, costing the team revenue.

Add Mike Singletary to the list of candidates to become coach of the Dallas Cowboys. The Hall of Fame linebacker will interview Tuesday with team owner Jerry Jones. He'll become the eighth candidate considered to replace Bill Parcells.

New Orleans defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs interviewed Saturday with the Dallas Cowboys. Gibbs, a former Cowboys assistant, was the third outside candidate to visit Valley Ranch for an interview since Bill Parcells retired as head coach Monday. San Francisco offensive coordinator Norv Turner was scheduled to interview Sunday. Turner was the Cowboys' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 1991-93, when they won consecutive Super Bowls, and had a 58-82-1 record as head coach in Washington (1994-00) and Oakland (2004-05).

The San Francisco 49ers are offering Norv Turner a lucrative incentive package in his contract in a bid to persuade him to remain and continue developing quarterback Alex Smith, rather than interviewing for the Dallas Cowboys' head-coaching position, according to sources. Seeking a replacement for retired head coach Bill Parcells, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones interviewed San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips through the morning and into the early afternoon Friday. Phillips also discussed the team's personnel with Parcells, who has also been offering Jones his opinion on the coaching candidates.

San Diego defensive coordinator Wade Phillips interviewed Friday with the Cowboys about replacing retired head coach Bill Parcells. Phillips, the former head coach at Denver and Buffalo who also had interim stints in New Orleans and Atlanta, said he had a "very encompassing talk" with Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones. "I'm going to go on my record," Phillips said. "I've won as a head coach, been in the playoffs three out of the five years I've been a head coach. ... I have a lot of experience; I've been 30 years in the league, 25 as either a head coach or coordinator." Jones also plans to talk to San Francisco offensive coordinator Norv Turner, a former head coach for Washington and Oakland, and New Orleans defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs. Both are former Dallas assistants.

The Cowboys have hired Dolphins quarterbacks coach Jason Garrett as their offensive coordinator, and he remains a candidate for Dallas' vacant head coaching position, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. A source told ESPN's Ed Werder on Wednesday night that team owner Jerry Jones considers Garrett, a former backup to quarterback Troy Aikman, to be one of the most promising offensive coaches in the league and was so determined to bring him back to the Cowboys organization that he would have been added to Bill Parcells' staff had Parcells decided to coach the final year of his contract.

Tampa Bay's Jon Gruden and San Francisco's Mike Nolan and their staffs will coach the Senior Bowl on Jan. 27. Gruden and the Bucs' staff will direct the North team, while Nolan and his assistants will lead the South for the second straight year.

No team allowed more points than the 49ers this past season. Defensive coordinator Billy Davis paid the price for that. The 49ers on Wednesday fired Davis along with defensive line coach Gary Emanuel. "After an evaluation period, we felt this was the right time to make this move," Niners coach Mike Nolan said. "These were tough decisions as they are both great individuals and have the potential to be very successful coaches in this league."
