Not only does the recent Donovan McNabb-for-linebacker Lance Briggs trade rumor, which has lost considerable steam in the last few days, fail to make sense from a football standpoint, but it seems just as unlikely due to the business aspect.
The last time the Eagles reached out for someone who was unhappy with his contract was in 2004 with Terrell Owens.

McNabb-Briggs Swap Rumored
Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?
That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.
The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.
McNabb Denies Any Rift With Reid
Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid don't need any counseling.
"My relationship (with Reid) probably is better than it was before," McNabb said Friday, rejecting speculation that there's a rift between the quarterback and coach.
Speaking at an event to promote his upcoming charity golf tournament, McNabb addressed various topics ranging from his injury rehab to his future with the Eagles.
Kearse Returns After Knee Injury
Jevon Kearse could be posing for fitness magazines if he wasn't too busy chasing quarterbacks.
Back on the field after a severe knee injury ended his season and temporarily cast doubt on his future last year, a leaner Kearse stood out during the Eagles' first minicamp. While many linemen are big and sloppy, the muscular Kearse reported in better shape than ever.
TO: I Got Nothin' Out of Tuna
Terrell Owens was asked what he got out of his only season with Bill Parcells.
"Nothing, really," T.O. said Monday, the last day of the Dallas Cowboys' first minicamp since Parcells retired.
Owens obviously isn't going to miss Parcells, and has already noticed how different things are under new coach Wade Phillips.
"Everybody knows he's a a laid-back coach, obviously a little different than Bill. ... I don't think you have to be a disciplinarian to get your point across," Owens said. "I think having a new head coach is good for everybody.
McNabb Should Be Ready When Eagles Open Camp
Barring any setbacks, Donovan McNabb should be ready when the Philadelphia Eagles open training camp in 2 1/2 months.
The five-time Pro Bowl quarterback has rehabbed vigorously since a knee injury ended his season in Week 11 last year. He's running and throwing and is on course for a complete return when players report to camp on July 27.
Eagles Called Mayweather
As the New England Patriots were on the phone with Brandon Meriweather to tell him that the team was about to select him in the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles were calling Mayweather on the other line.
Donovan Calls Philly's Drafting Of QB 'Shocking'
When the Philadelphia Eagles selected quarterback Kevin Kolb with their first pick in last month's NFL draft, Donovan McNabb was shocked.
"It was shocking," McNabb said Tuesday in an interview on WIP-AM radio.
Speaking publicly for the first time since the draft on April 28-29, McNabb downplayed the perception he's upset the Eagles selected his eventual successor
Eagles Sign DT Ian Scott
Free-agent defensive tackle Ian Scott signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, three months after starting in the Super Bowl for the Chicago Bears.
Scott, a fourth-round pick by the Bears in 2003, recorded 41 tackles in 18 games last year, including the playoffs. In four seasons with the Bears, he had 155 tackles and two sacks.
