The Jets had interest in Bruce Irvin, who the Seahawks drafted with the 15th overall selection, one pick ahead of New York. Many analysts felt Seattle reached on the West Virginia defender. After the Seahawks took Irvin, they received a good-natured call from the Jets cursing them out for taking the player they wanted. One general manager called Irvin the "hottest player in the draft."

Antonio Cromartie also was sitting next to Sanchez and Holmes, but was introduced to the crowd separately.

The Jets reached out to Trent Richardson recently, fueling speculation that they are looking to trade up in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft. "They wanted to know my information as far as whether that's the right number to reach me in case something does happen, with them trading up," Richardson said Wednesday of the call he received from the Jets. The Jets, picking 16th, are exploring the possibility of moving up for Richardson, according to league sources. The move is considered a long shot because they would likely have to jump up eleven or twelve spots to take Richardson.

Brunell Backtracks Retirement Talk

Mark Brunell would "like to (play) another season," the free-agent quarterback told the New York Daily News on Tuesday. The development comes one day after The Florida Times-Union reported he would retire. "If an opportunity came along, I would certainly consider it," the 19-year NFL veteran said. "I definitely would like to (play) another season. No plans to retire yet."

The Jets and their top college-talent evaluator will likely part ways in the coming weeks, according to league sources. There development creates uncertainty with the NFL Draft scheduled for the end of the week. Joey Clinkscales, New York's vice president of college scouting since 2008, has drawn interest from the Raiders, sources said. A final decision hasn't been made, but some believe there will be a mutual parting, with Clinkscales leaving for what would appear to be a lateral move to work under new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie.

Mark Brunell is planning to retire, according to a report. Brunell has yet to officially file his retirement papers. "Most guys that have trouble leaving the game are in their 20s," Brunell told The Florida Times-Union. "I've been preparing for football to be over with for quite some time." Brunell signed a two-year deal with the Jets in 2010 and spent the past two seasons as a backup to starter Mark Sanchez.

Revis Dances Around Talk Of Possible Holdout

Darrelle Revis, who skipped training camp two years ago during a bitter contract dispute with the Jets, has hinted that he may stage another holdout if he doesn't get a new deal. "I just don't know," he told a group of reporters. "I'm not saying I am going to hold out; I'm not saying I'm not going to hold out. Right now my focus is just being on the team. ... I'm getting ready for the 2012-13 season. That's all I can do." Revis is due to make $13.5 million in salary and bonuses over the final two years of his contract, including $7.5 million this season. He made $32.5 million in the last two years after re-negotiating his deal a few days before the 2010 regular-season opener.
