Luck Supports Possible Acquisition Of Jonathan Martin For Colts

Sep 20, 2014 5:11 PM

Andrew Luck and Jonathan Martin were teammates at Stanford and a reunion in the NFL could take place with the Indianapolis Colts.

Martin would prefer to move on from the Miami Dolphins after being bullied by teammate Richie Incognito.

“I’d say I love Jon, we had a great time at Stanford together, still stay in touch with him regularly and I think he’s a great man,” Luck said regarding the input he’d provide, if/when (when) he’s asked about Martin.

Luck said he still regularly talks to Martin, and that they spoke “[p]robably a couple days ago.”

The Colts have a need on the offensive line.

Jonathan Martin Prefers Not To Return To Dolphins

Jun 15, 2014 8:31 PM

Jonathan Martin doesn't want to return to the Miami Dolphins and will meet directly with owner Stephen Ross, according to a source.

Martin wants to begin fresh with a new team whether he's traded or cut.

“How do you take (Martin) back?” the source said. “Do you get rid of Pouncey? All these guys talked (stuff) about him. I don’t even know how it’s possible.”

If the Dolphins were to bring back Martin, it could appeal to Ross as a sign that the locker room issues are fixed.

NFL Investigator Concludes Martin Was Tormented By Incognito, Others

Sep 3, 2014 6:34 PM

A report released Friday by NFL investigator Ted Wells indicates Jonathan Martin was subjected to "a pattern of harassment" that included racial slurs and vicious sexual taunts about his mother and sister by three teammates.

The 144-page report said Richie Incognito, who was suspended by the Dolphins in November, and fellow offensive linemen John Jerry and Mike Pouncey harassed Martin. Another offensive lineman and an assistant trainer also routinely came under attack. Neither was named in the report.

Stephen Ross recently said he doesn't expect either player to return to Miami next season. Incognito is an unrestricted free agent and Martin has two years left on his contract. Martin likely will be traded or released.

Martin told investigators Incognito joked that he and other teammates would rape Martin's sister, a medical student none of them had ever met. Incognito also used racial slurs with Martin, made jokes about slavery and routinely demeaned Martin for not being "black enough."

The report said Pouncey and Jerry followed Incognito's lead.

"To a great extent, Incognito dictated the culture," the report said. "We doubt that matters would have gotten so out of hand had Incognito not set a tone on the offensive line that made extremely vulgar taunting a typical form of communication."

Dolphins Seek More Physical Running From Lamar Miller

Oct 8, 2014 8:29 AM

The Miami Dolphins want Lamar Miller to be a more physical running back in 2014.

The Dolphins were disappointed by the production of Miller and Daniel Thomas last season.

"They're a good complement to each other, and we like Miller's speed and explosiveness," one Dolphins staffer said. "Miller has the higher ceiling, but you wish he ran with a more physical (style). And both have to improve as blockers."

Miller was one of the NFL's least elusive running backs last season.
