Texans No Longer Pursuing Nick Caserio For GM Job

Jun 14, 2019 6:00 PM

The Houston Texans have dropped their pursuit of Nick Caserio for their general manager vacancy.

As a result, the New England Patriots will no longer pursue tampering charges against the Texans.

The Texans could enter the 2019 season without a general manager, splitting up duties between Bill O'Brien, Jack Easterby and the scouting department.

The Texans fired Brian Gaine as general manager this month.

Patriots File Tampering Charge Against Texans Over GM Approach

Jun 12, 2019 8:10 PM

The New England Patriots have filed tampering charges against the Houston Texans for their attempted hire of Nick Caserio as general manager.

Houston fired general manager Brian Gaine the night after the Patriots received their Super Bowl rings at the house of Robert Kraft.

Former Patriots team chaplain and current Texans executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby attended that party, as did Caserio, New England's director of player personnel since 2008. The Texans have requested permission to interview Caserio for their GM job but have not been granted permission to date.

Jadeveon Clowney To Skip Houston's Mandatory Minicamp

Jun 11, 2019 8:42 AM

Jadeveon Clowney isn't expected to attend the Houston Texans' mandatory minicamp, which runs Tuesday through Thursday.

It's the only portion of the team's offseason that is mandatory until training camp begins in late July.

The Texans placed the franchise tag on Clowney. He would earn roughly $16 million under the tag, but is pursuing a long-term deal.

The two sides have until July 15 to reach a multi-year agreement.

The Texans don't currently have a general manager.

Texans Fire Brian Gaine As General Manager

Jun 7, 2019 6:01 PM

The Houston Texans have fired Brian Gaine as general manager.

The Texans hired Gaine in January 2018 after former general manager Rick Smith took a leave of absence to help take care of his wife as she battled breast cancer. Gaine was signed to a five-year contract.

"After a thorough evaluation of our football operations, we have decided to relieve Brian Gaine of his duties as general manager," Texans CEO Cal McNair said in a statement.

Houston finished last season with an 11-5 record.

Deshaun Watson Seeing More Confidence In Keke Coutee

Jun 3, 2019 8:27 AM

The Houston Texans have had the chance to see more of Keke Coutee during organized team activities this spring.

Coutee has been featured more with DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller not on the field.

The young wide receiver missed 10 regular season games with hamstring woes last season.

"He's playing a lot faster and he's out there helping all the young receivers get lined up and telling them what to do," DeShaun Watson said. "You can tell that anytime he's on the field, you just try to get him the ball in space and let him go work. You never know what he's going to do with the ball in his hands. He can do all types of stuff. He's a guy that the defense has to worry about. ... A lot of people are very impressed with him, and so am I."
