Texans Try To Deal For Moulds

May 22, 2014 1:04 AM

The Texans are interested in trading for veteran Buffalo Bills receiver Eric Moulds to start opposite Andre Johnson. Moulds, 32, has been given permission by the Bills to seek a trade because they don't want to pay him the $7.1 million he's due this year. Before the Texans can work out the trade with Buffalo, they have to negotiate a new contract with Moulds, who caught 81 passes for 816 yards and four touchdowns this past season. "We're exploring an opportunity for Eric to play for the Texans," said Greg Johnson, one of Moulds' representatives. "If all sides can see eye to eye, we'll make it happen. "But everyone has to see eye to eye."

Young Puts On Stellar Performance On Texas' Pro Day

Jun 22, 2014 4:24 PM

Quarterback Vince Young's coming-out party at the University of Texas' pro day Wednesday turned into his coronation as a legitimate candidate to be the first pick in the NFL draft on April 29. The Texans will lead off the draft, and even though they are expected to take Southern California running back Reggie Bush, Young's outstanding performance Wednesday at the Longhorns' pro day should make them think long and hard before making the selection. "He did a great job," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "I was real impressed. He showed a very strong arm, and he was accurate on the move. He looked like he could have thrown all day. He made every throw. He did everything you could ask a guy to do in this situation." Young ? who was measured and weighed at 6-4 5/8 and 228 pounds ? put on an impressive performance in the Longhorns' practice bubble.

Will Ike Like Houston?

The Texans are bringing in a second group of free agents today when they begin their first offseason program under new coach Gary Kubiak. Tampa Bay receiver Ike Hilliard, a 10-year veteran who turns 30 next month, visited with Kubiak and his offensive coaches on Sunday. Denver tight end Jeb Putzier, Minnesota middle linebacker Sam Cowart and Detroit fullback Paul Smith will be in town today meeting with the coaches. The Texans canceled a visit with Minnesota receiver Nate Burleson, a restricted free agent who could be involved in an expensive tug of war with the Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.
