Bengals Pick Frostee Rucker Charged With Battery, Vandalism

Cincinnati Bengals third rounder Frostee Rucker has been charged with two counts of spousal battery and two counts of vandalism. If convicted Rucker could face up to three years in county jail. The charges stem from an incident in early August 2005 that took place in Los Angeles at Rucker's apartment.

Bengals Trade QB Ragone To St. Louis

After claiming veteran quarterback Dave Ragone off waivers, the Bengals have traded him to the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed 2007 draft pick. Ragone is joining his third team in under two months. Ragone will join the Rams, as well and will battle Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeff Smoker for the No. 3 job on the depth chart.

Carson Palmer continues to rehab and progress ahead of schedule from surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments he suffered in the playoff loss against Pittsburgh in January, Lewis has focused on making sure the rest of team is progressing six weeks before the start of training camp. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis proclaimed his team, and Palmer, to be in good shape after the conclusion of a three-day mini-camp on Saturday. "We come out of (the mini-camp) ahead of where we went into it," said Lewis. "It's been a good productive last three days. Carson got the four good practices in, coming through and showing himself where he is and having an opportunity to build on it as we head into training camp."

Bengals Chad Johnson Pulls Groin

Bengals receiver Chad Johnson pulled groin muscles during minicamp Friday and was taken off the field on a cart. Johnson was battling safety Kevin Kaesviharn for a pass when he got hurt. Coach Marvin Lewis didn't think the injury was severe. "I think he would have loved to have finished practice, but they just took him in and iced him down," Lewis said. "We'll see how sore he is tomorrow."

"I told the people that yes, you embarrass us as an organization, myself, and the coaches when these things occur," Lewis said of rookie linebacker A.J. Nicholson and second-year receiver Chris Henry. "Right, wrong or indifferent, there are certain things that you're asked not to be a part of or around."

Draft Pick Charged With Burglary

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker A.J. Nicholson was charged with burglarizing the apartment of a former Florida State teammate. The 21-year-old Nicholson also was charged with grand theft and vandalism. He was being held at the Leon County jail on $16,000 bond, with a first appearance before a judge scheduled June 5, a spokesman with the Sheriff's office said. Nicholson and Fred Rouse, another former Florida State teammate, are accused of breaking into the apartment of Seminoles running back Lorenzo Booker and stealing $1,700 worth of electronic equipment late last month.

Bengals' Henry Arrested Again

Bengals receiver Chris Henry was charged with speeding and drunken driving early June 4, his third scrape with the law since December. Henry registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.092 on a breath test and was clocked at 82 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone, said Sgt. Craig Cvetan, a State Highway Patrol spokesman. The legal limit is 0.08. The 23-year-old Henry cooperated with investigators, who issued him a citation and released him into a friend's custody, Cvetan said. The player has an initial appearance set for June 9 in Clermont County Common Municipal Court on the misdemeanor charges. Messages were left with Henry's lawyer, David Fussell, and his agent, John Frederickson. The Bengals said they wouldn't comment until the case is resolved.
