Reed Can Envision Playing For Belichick

Oct 31, 2014 6:46 AM

Ed Reed could play his final game with the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday's Super Bowl as he will become an unrestricted free agent in March.

The New England Patriots have long been known to covet Reed.

Tom Brady joked a few years ago that Bill Belichick wanted to adopt Ed Reed.

"Yeah, oh yeah, man, I could definitely play for Coach Belichick," said Reed. "He is a great coach. I'm sure he can help me to expand my football knowledge even more as a player and as a coach, so if I'm ever able to be around him, just like I was at the Pro Bowl, it's huge."

Reed even said he borrows from Belichick's fashion sense.

"It's the reason why I wear my sweater cut off a little bit," Reed said. "He's the first guy I saw like, 'That's cool.' You know, that's cool. He cuts those sweater sleeves, and he'll be comfortable. So there's a reason why. Most people will tell you around the facility that's how I look. It's just a blessing to even have met, to know Coach Belichick."

Nate Silver predicts the San Francisco 49ers will defeat the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl.

Silver said the 49ers have the better defensive team and that side wins the Super Bowl approximately 70 percent of the time.

Silver, however, erroneously predicted that the Seahawks would meet the Patriots in the Super Bowl before the playoffs started.

Maryland Outpacing California In Super Bowl Ticket Sales

Oct 24, 2014 5:36 AM

There have been more secondary ticket sales for the Super Bowl by people from the state of Maryland than to California, according to data from VividSeats

Maryland has comprised 22.5 percent of ticket sales, ahead of California at 18.4 percent, Texas at 8.5 percent and Louisiana at 4.3 percent.

This would suggest that the Superdome crowd might lean slightly for the Baltimore Ravens over the San Francisco 49ers.

The average ticket price this year is $3,255, ahead of last season's game between the Patriots and Giants, which had an average ticket price of $3,040. This year's game trails the 2011 edition between the Packers and Steelers, however.

Pollard Doubts NFL Will Exist 30 Years From Now

Oct 31, 2014 6:52 AM

Bernard Pollard doubts the NFL will be in existence 30 years from now due to the efforts being made to make the game safer.

"Thirty years from now, I don't think it will be in existence. I could be wrong. It's just my opinion, but I think with the direction things are going -- where [NFL rules makers] want to lighten up, and they're throwing flags and everything else -- there's going to come a point where fans are going to get fed up with it," Pollard said.

"Guys are getting fined, and they're talking about, 'Let's take away the strike zone' and 'Take the pads off' or 'Take the helmets off.' It's going to be a thing where fans aren't going to want to watch it anymore."

Suggs' Achilles Approaching 100 Percent

Oct 31, 2014 6:54 AM

Terrell Suggs has made a noticeable improvement in his recovery from an Achilles injury.

"We haven't monitored or charted his explosive quotient so far, but he is getting better," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters. "I think he's becoming quicker, faster, more explosive, stronger, all of those things. You can tell that it is healing, and he is just playing more like a normal, 100-percent Terrell Suggs would play.”

Suggs also tore his right biceps on Dec. 2.

Ravens Converting In Red Zone Trips

Oct 31, 2014 6:52 AM

The Baltimore Ravens have scored on their last eight trips to the red zone.

The Ravens ranked 11th in the red zone offense in the regular season.

"I always believed confidence usually follows success," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "You can be fake confident. If you haven’t really done anything, you can kind of walk around with a false bravado. But, to have success, especially in the last couple of weeks the way we have, is definitely going to generate some confidence.”
