Bucs' Cadillac Eager To Rebound From Last Season

Nov 12, 2014 9:37 PM

Carnell "Cadillac" Williams says there's one thing he'll never forget about the only losing season he's gone through as a football player. "I found out you definitely shouldn't take winning for granted," the third-year Tampa Bay running back said. "Sometimes you beat teams and think that's what you were supposed to do. After the season we had last year, I'm counting every win and going to be thankful for however it comes."

Gruden Still Hoping To See Plummer

Nov 12, 2014 9:37 PM

Bucs coach Jon Gruden continues to gush over QB Jeff Garcia, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't mind Jake Plummer paying the team a visit. The former Denver Broncos starting quarterback missed Tuesday's first day of the mandatory minicamp and is subject to a fine. Plummer routinely has claimed he's retired but has yet to file the appropriate papers with the league office. While they wait, the Bucs continue to hold out hope the quarterback they traded a 2008 draft pick for shows up. "We'll reserve a spot for the 'Snake' for a little while longer," Gruden said. "If it was Jake Jones or Jake Johnson or Jake Gruden, we'd probably bypass the holding pattern that we're in right now. This is one heck of a football player that has accomplished a great deal. At this point, he's retired and hopefully at some point he changes his mind or reconsiders."

Garcia: "I Felt Personally Snubbed"

Nov 12, 2014 9:37 PM

"I think there was a lot of anger within myself," said Jeff Garcia, describing his feeling when the Eagles waived him goodbye after he led them into the playoffs last season as the very capable fill-in for the injured Donovan McNabb. "Here was finally a situation where I felt so comfortable and I felt like I had a good home and a good place, and I wanted to be able to experience more of that and, hopefully, not have to relocate all over again. That opportunity wasn't presented to me." A few minutes later, Garcia gave a more abbreviated version: "I felt personally snubbed." Garcia is with Jon Gruden's Tampa Bay Buccaneers now, the team's likely starter because the NFL doesn't throw around $5 million for backups.

Gruden: Garcia Leads Bucs' QB Race

Nov 12, 2014 9:37 PM

Although he stopped short of declaring the competition decided, and allowed that the battle will continue into training camp, Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden acknowledged Friday that veteran Jeff Garcia will go into the summer with a "big lead" over Chris Simms in the race for the team's starting job at quarterback. "There's not a lot of controversy in my eyes right now," Gruden said. "If you want to catch up to Jeff Garcia, our young quarterbacks have a lot of work to do."
