#3 Pick Edwards Claims Miami Deceived Him

Oct 1, 2014 3:35 AM

Former Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards is going public about what he believes to be a deceptive maneuver on the Miami Dolphins part. "They kind of flat out lied to me," said Edwards, the No. 3 pick taken by the Cleveland Browns, one spot after the Dolphins chose Auburn running back Ronnie Brown. "They tried to use me ... more so the owner and General Manager, Mr. [Rick] Spielman, Mr. [H. Wayne] Huizenga," Edwards said Tuesday. "They tried to get some buzz out there so they could try to warrant some trades so they could get more for the pick, when Ronnie Brown is who they wanted in the long run. "I don't like being lied to. I'm a man. Tell me straight out. [They lied to] my face and on the phone. They actually called me right before they picked as well."

Dolphins Likely Out; Chiefs And Jets Now In Ty Law Hunt

Nov 5, 2014 3:41 PM

Conernerback Ty Law has indicated that he is not interested in playing for the Miami Dolphins after the team contacted him a second tome. ''Now Miami wants me to come back and visit,'' Law said during an interview with Peter King of Sports Illustrated. ``But if you can't afford Patrick Surtain, how can you afford me?'' ``The Jets are interested. Kansas City called again. Tampa Bay faxed an offer. Indianapolis is in it. I got an offer, sight unseen for $2.5 million for one year. If I wasn't ready, I'd just take it. But I'm going to be ready to play, and that's not the kind of contract I should get.

Schulters To Meet With Miami; Detroit, SF And Atlanta Also Interested

Oct 30, 2014 6:05 AM

Safety Lance Schulters, arguably one of the top players remaining in the free-agent market, will meet Thursday evening with Dolphins officials. Schulters, 30, missed 13 games in 2004 because of a foot injury but is said to be healthy again. If that is the case, the seven-year veteran would be an upgrade for the Dolphins and several other teams that have indicated an interest in him. In 91 games, including 76 starts, Schulters has 412 tackles, 15 interceptions 43 passes defensed, 5? sacks, three forced fumbles and two recoveries. As recently as 2002, he posted six interceptions. Schulers has gone 22 straight games without an interception but is still regarded as a top-flight safety, assuming he has recovered from his '04 foot injury. A former Hofstra standout, Schulters spent his first four seasons in San Francisco, where the 49ers chose him in the fourth round of the 1998 draft. He signed with Tennessee as a free agent in 2002, netting a six-year, $20 million contract. The Titans released Schulters after the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a restructured contract. He still had three years left on his contract with the Titans, at base salaries of $2.75 million (2005), $3.65 million (2006) and $4 million (2007). Detroit, San Francisco and possibly Atlanta are among the other teams believed to have varying degrees of interest in Schulters.

Don?t Count On Bowens Retiring Just Yet

Aug 1, 2014 2:34 AM

After being released by the Miami Dolphins 10 days ago after he failed his physical due to a back injury, the 11-year veteran Tim Bowens indicated he would retire. However, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has said he will not file the paperwork just yet and might consider playing on the defensive line for the Dolphins in 2006. "If he came back, it would be with the Dolphins. That goes without saying," Rosenhaus said. "I wouldn't be shocked if Tim really misses the game, and his back really improves, to see him back next year, but Mother Nature would have to cooperate a lot between now and then."

Williams Reportedly Re-Enters NFL Drug Program, Return Imminent

May 26, 2014 1:02 PM

Taking a major step in his return to the Miami, former Dolphins running back has reportedly re-entered the NFL?s substance-abuse program. Williams? agent, Leigh Steinberg, reported the news to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and has also said that the Dolphins have given Williams a copy of their offseason workout regimen. "He's confident that his weight and strength are steadily returning, that he'll be in good shape by training camp and that the process will continue throughout training camp," Steinberg was quoted by the paper. Williams abruptly retired last July, just before training camp, amid speculation of a failed drug test for marijuana. He took the year off, a move that triggered one of the worst seasons in Miami history. His return comes after a federal judge ruled in February that he had to repay the Dolphins $8.6 million in bonus money after the club claimed breach of contract.

Newly Signed Dolphins Lineman Upset Over Previous Coach?s Comments

Aug 3, 2014 12:42 AM

After signing with the Miami Dolphins in March, offensive lineman Stockar McDougle learned that his old lineman coach with the Lions didn?t have very nice things to say about him to inquring teams. There was some bad reports that came from my former O-line coach that didn't help me in free agency, and [I] just [want to] show that all those things he said about me weren't true," said McDougle, 28, who has seemingly supplanted incumbent starting right tackle John St. Clair. McDougle was talking about coach Pat Morris who reportedly made comments that McDougle was lazy. "He said I liked to take plays off, and that was something he told me I didn't do all during the season, that he was the proudest of me about," McDougle said. "Then he went back and was telling people at the [Indianapolis] combine, and people that were calling him, that I took plays off.

Miami Dolphins safety Travares Tillman will undergo surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee and may be out six weeks. "I don't think he has a bad injury," Dolphins coach Nick Saban said. "I don't think this is anything unless the scope shows something that the MRI and the examination didn't that would be a long-term issue."

More Players Speak Out In Williams Defense

Aug 2, 2014 8:51 PM

After an unexpected retirement that left his team that created a lot of controversy and left his team in shambles, some of the Miami Dolphin players are still open to a Ricky Williams return. ''I still think Ricky's a great guy. I never even said he was a bad guy,'' linebacker Zach Thomas said. ``I just thought the whole thing of last year . . . I'm a little selfish. I think if you hurt our team when we lose him that quick right before the season, yeah, it upset me. ``But I'll tell you what. I'll have open arms to him if he does come back. But I'm going to worry about the guys and the players that are here right now, because I feel like we got some great pickups in the draft and free agents that are definitely going to help us and it will be a better year.''
