Jaguars Interested In Trading For Calvin Johnson

Oct 30, 2017 2:54 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have interest in trading for Calvin Johnson.

The situation is similar to what happened between the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders with Marshawn Lynch. The Raiders traded their fifth-round pick in 2018 to the Seahawks for Lynch and a 2018 sixth-rounder.

Johnson is now 32 and hasn't played in a game since Jan. 3, 2016.

The Jaguars already are facing contract negotiations with Allen Robinson, who also is in the last year of his rookie deal. The Jaguars can't afford to pay big money to two receivers, especially with six players already scheduled to have salary-cap figures of at least $10 million in 2018.

Two Teams Approach Lions On Trading For Rights To Calvin Johnson

Oct 29, 2017 10:14 AM

The Detroit Lions have been approached by two teams about potentially trading the rights to Calvin Johnson ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

The Lions told those teams to reach out to Johnson to gauge his interest about returning to the NFL. Johnson has been noncommittal to date, which was diminished any hope for a deal.

Johnson announced his retirement in March of 2016.

Johnson is now 32 years old.

Eric Ebron Meets With Matthew Stafford, Hopes To Get Out Of 'Dumps'

Oct 11, 2017 8:23 AM

Eric Ebron sat down with Matthew Stafford on Monday in an effort to get out of "the dumps" for the Detroit Lions.

Ebron caught a career-high 61 passes last season, but has just 12 catches for 93 yards this year. He also has three drops.

"That's my guy," Ebron said of Stafford. "We had a talk after the game, on Monday, yesterday actually, and just basically tried to help him will me around, because I feel like I've been in the dumps and haven't been as mentally engaged as I should be, and he helped me out.

"I can rely on him, and he relies on me, and that's what kind of relationship we've built over these four years, so I leaned upon him and he's been a good dude for me."

Matthew Stafford Suffers Injured Hamstring, Ankle

Oct 9, 2017 8:09 PM

Matthew Stafford suffered an injured hamstring and a sprained ankle in the Detroit Lions' 27-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 5.

Stafford is not sure if he'll be healthy enough to play in Week 6.

Jim Caldwell told reporters to "check the report" when asked about Stafford's injuries.

Stafford said he and the Lions are protecting the information because they believe it offers a "competitive advantage or disadvantage," as well as being for the safety of players.

"Why would you want another team to know exactly what's going on with you if you don't have to mention it?" Stafford said. "Obviously the reports come out and all that kind of stuff, and that's about as much information as we're as a team going to get out.

"There's no real win in telling everybody in America what's going on with ya, right? 'What's the positive' is how I look at it."
