#3 Pick Edwards Claims Miami Deceived Him

Oct 1, 2014 3:35 AM

Former Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards is going public about what he believes to be a deceptive maneuver on the Miami Dolphins part. "They kind of flat out lied to me," said Edwards, the No. 3 pick taken by the Cleveland Browns, one spot after the Dolphins chose Auburn running back Ronnie Brown. "They tried to use me ... more so the owner and General Manager, Mr. [Rick] Spielman, Mr. [H. Wayne] Huizenga," Edwards said Tuesday. "They tried to get some buzz out there so they could try to warrant some trades so they could get more for the pick, when Ronnie Brown is who they wanted in the long run. "I don't like being lied to. I'm a man. Tell me straight out. [They lied to] my face and on the phone. They actually called me right before they picked as well."

Winslow To Have Surgery On Tuesday

Oct 1, 2014 3:35 AM

Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow will undergo Tuesday surgery to repair the right knee injury he sustained earlier this offseason in a motorcycle accident and team officials expect the 2004 first-round choice to be available for the 2006 season. Surgeons will repair a torn right anterior cruciate ligament but team officials said that, despite speculation to the contrary, there was no further damage to Winslow's right knee. Winslow had already acknowledged, in a public statement to the Browns and their fans, he will miss the entire 2005 campaign. The former University of Miami star, the fifth overall choice in the 2004 draft, played in only two games as a rookie. Winslow broke his right ankle last year in the final seconds of a game at Dallas while attempting to recover an onside kick. Winslow finished the year with just five receptions.

Winslow Sr. Lashes Out At Media

Oct 1, 2014 12:14 PM

The father of Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow II, Kellen Winslow, recently lashed out at the media regarding how they handled his sons motorcycle accident. An accident that will keep Winslow out for the entirety of next season. "I'm disappointed in the way you guys have handled it. Twenty-one-year-old people make mistakes," he said. "He made a mistake. You made it a circus. Remember when you were 21? A human being at 21 makes mistakes. He's not a piece of property." "You guys look at it as a moment in time and you blow it out of proportion. This Jerry Springer mentality of journalism, you guys are better than that. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Presidents make mistakes. Senators make mistakes. Journalists, if you still call yourselves that, make mistakes."

Browns To Meet With LB Boulware

Oct 1, 2014 5:34 AM

Four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Peter Boulware, released by the Baltimore Ravens nearly three weeks ago for salary cap and injury reasons and regarded as one of the top veterans still available in free agency, will meet on Thursday with Cleveland Browns officials. Boulware will fly to Cleveland on Wednesday evening for the Thursday session, agent Roosevelt Barnes told ESPN.com, and then is tentatively scheduled to visit with Seattle Seahawks officials on Friday, assuming he does not sign with the Browns before that. The eight-year veteran, who missed the '04 season with knee and toe injuries, has already visited with the Houston Texans. "I don't know how much longer it will take for Pete to decide where he wants to continue his career," Barnes said on Tuesday evening. "But he has done a good job of researching the places that might be a good fit for him, teams where he feels he can really contribute, and now he's going to get a closer look."
