Dak Prescott, Cowboys Expected To Have Prolonged Extension Talks

Sep 30, 2019 10:40 AM

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are not close to agreement on a contract extension at this time and a deal is not expected to be reached in the near future.

There is, however, motivation on both sides for a deal to eventually be reached.

There hasn't been a setback on the talks as they have not moved past the preliminary stages.

Prescott isn't considering moving off his demands, especially as he continues his strong start to 2019.

Washington Could Fire Jay Gruden With Week 4 Loss

Sep 27, 2019 4:44 PM

Washington could fire Jay Gruden as head coach if the teams falls to 0-4 this week with a loss to the New York Giants, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

“I’ve seen a guy walk on the moon, for God’s sakes,” he said in a quiet moment after a recent practice. “Surely an 0-3 team can come back from the depths of 0-3 and put on a nine, 10 game streak and win 10 of their last 13 games. It’s not that big of a deal, right?”

There have been some in the media calling for Gruden to start Dwayne Haskins at quarterback.

Gruden has been more upbeat this week despite Washington's 0-3 record.

Jalen Ramsey: My Trade Request Still Stands

Sep 27, 2019 4:42 PM

Jalen Ramsey reiterated on Thursday that he still wants the Jacksonville Jaguars to trade him.

In the latest episode of Uninterrupted's "17 Weeks" Podcast, Ramsey said he has lost respect for the franchise and that's not something he believes he can get back.

"I'm not sure if I've played my final game for the Jags yet or not but my trade request still stands," Ramsey said. "For me, respect is a huge thing. I kinda touched on it a little bit last week in last week's podcast but once respect is lost for both parties I think it is time to part ways.

"I'm going to continue being a top corner in this league for years to come. The money will come, but money isn't everything. Peace and happiness means a lot more than the money."

League sources say owner Shad Khan does not want to trade Ramsey.

Kraft Likely Overruled Brady, Belichick On Cutting Antonio Brown

Sep 27, 2019 11:12 AM

Tom Brady was reportedly upset with the New England Patriots' decision to cut Antonio Brown.

Brady publicly made the following comments to Jim Gray on Westwood One on Monday.

“I don’t make any personnel decisions," said Brady. "I don’t decide to sign players. I don’t decide to trade then. I don’t decide to release them. I don’t decide to draft them. I don’t get asked, I show up and do my job. I’m an employee like everyone else. I’m going to show this week and do the best I can do as quarterback. … Maybe one day I will be an owner and I can make all the decisions that I want.”

The Patriots' decision to cut Brown was made by Robert Kraft, a rare if not unprecedented instance in which he intervened on the football side. Bill Belichick understood the decision and accepted it, but Brown would likely still be with the Patriots if Kraft hadn't insisted upon it.

Drew Brees Feels He 'Can Beat' Six-Week Injury Timetable

Sep 26, 2019 12:20 PM

Drew Brees is expected to miss six weeks with a thumb injury, but the quarterback believes he could return to the New Orleans Saints sooner.

"As far as the timetable for getting back though, they say 6 to 8 weeks. I think I can beat that, but I'm just gonna take it one week at a time and see how things go," Brees said in a radio interview.

Brees revealed that he decided to have an internal brace inserted during surgery, which could expedite his recovery timetable.

"It's something that immediately gives it strength and stability, [which] allows you to start rehabbing right away. You don't have to be immobilized or be in a cast," he explained.

The Chargers stopped negotiating with Gordon on a long-term deal, which negated any advantage he might have in continuing his holdout.

Jalen Ramsey Leaves Jaguars To Attend Birth Of Second Child

Sep 25, 2019 8:39 PM

Jalen Ramsey has left the Jacksonville Jaguars due to the impending birth of his second child.

Ramsey's departure comes following a string of incidents in which he's distanced himself from the Jaguars. Ramsey would like a trade from Jacksonville.

"Months ago in the offseason, Jalen notified me that he was expecting the birth of his second child in late September," coach Doug Marrone said in a statement. "We spoke about this recently and again today after practice and decided that it was best for Jalen to fly to Nashville tonight after meetings to be with his family during the birth of their daughter. He will return to the team when he's ready, and we will provide an update at that time."

Ramsey was the fifth overall pick in 2016 and has become one of the NFL's best cornerbacks.
