ESPN's Adam Schefter has suggested that the Raiders could float an offer to Benson just before training camp, or soon after it opens.

Raiders Expecting A Lot From Jack Crawford
The Raiders are expecting production from defensive end Jack Crawford, who they drafted in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft.
"He's big, athletic, runs really well," coach Dennis Allen said.
"And he's had some production, and so again we look for versatility in guys and we try to find roles for specific guys and I think as you look at him, as we get a chance to work with him, I think we're going to be able to define a pretty good role for him."
Raiders Trainer Helps Save Woman From Sinking Car
Raiders assistant athletic trainer Chris Cortez was among the heroes who helped pull a woman out of her sinking car in the Oakland estuary early Saturday evening.
Cortez and his wife, along with family friend Taryn Griffin, spotted a car sinking in the water off Doolittle Drive while driving home from dinner.
"It was more of a reaction than sitting there thinking (about) it," Cortez said. "It goes along with our business. If something happens, we have to be right on top of it."
Cortez and Griffin, along with another person, took charge of the situation.
"We got the woman to roll down her window and the car started going under," Cortez said. "Taryn, being the awesome swimmer that she is, dove right in and so I just went in right after her. And so did another individual, and we got her out of there without a scratch, which is pretty amazing."
Raiders Looking At Cedric Benson
The Raiders are showing interest in free-agent running back Cedric Benson, according to a report.
Oakland lost backup Michael Bush to Chicago in free agency and starter Darren McFadden is not durable.
Man Sentenced For Killing Biletnikoff's Daughter
A man has been sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for killing the daughter of former Raiders star receiver Fred Biletnikoff in 1999.
Mohammed Haroon Ali received the sentence Thursday in San Mateo County Superior Court after being convicted of first-degree murder in March for killing his then-girlfriend Tracey Biletnikoff.
At the sentencing, the San Mateo County Times reports the NFL Hall of Famer called Ali an "animal" and said his hatred for him would never go away.
Huff: Al Davis Served As Defensive Coordinator
Former Raiders owner Al Davis had a wide range of responsibilities with the franchise.
Michael Huff has confirmed that Davis was deeply involved in game planning and defensive schemes right up until the end.
"Nothing personal, but obviously, before with Al -- rest in peace -- he had his hands in all the defense," the defensive back said.
"He had all his little things he liked to do. Now with D.A. (head coach Dennis Allen) out there, we've got all kinds of blitzes, we've got 3-4, 4-3 fronts, just a lot of variety and different things going on. So I'm going to love it."
Huff bemoaned Oakland's past defensive schemes as vanilla.
"Everybody knew," he said. "I'm in the middle of the field. I'm in the post, we're pretty much man-to-man on the outside. It was pretty simple. We really didn't blitz much. We let our front four get after them. That's how it was, so we dealt with it."
Report: Second-Round Pick Will Finalize Palmer Trade
The Raiders will send next year's second-round draft pick to the Bengals to complete the Carson Palmer trade, according to an Oakland official.
It was believed that the Raiders might have to ship a 2013 first-round pick to the Bengals if Oakland had reached the AFC Championship Game.
The Raiders already sent this year's first-round pick to the Bengals for the veteran quarterback last October.
